part II of The Quiet Day
Just pulled some cinnamon rolls out of the oven.........lawd, lawd, lawd. Anything that starts off with a smell like that beginning with a syllable that sounds like sin.......may sound wrong but tastes so right.
My earlier meal personified bland and nutritious. I have enough of it to last all week. Know that song "Mercy?"..........a few years ago when Adele was coming in to our viewfinders, this other little blond singer, from Wales I think or ????? She won all kinds of attention for her singing also....(can't remember her name, sorry)....."I'm begging you for mercy......Why don't you release me........?" This is the song that may get me an early release from that dull food stretching out before me like a long stretch of desert. As in Mojave......not sweets.
I can't remember the names of the two movies I just watched either, but if I had to I could write a synopsis of both of them. OBS Odd Brain Syndrome.
As I watched the end of the second movie my mind was formulating words........rolling out on some kind of mental sheet.
Miss Maddie Givens walked into Room 4B. The bell was already ringing, it was Tuesday morning, the 28th of August. Settled herself in her chair and opened up a small worn coin purse. She wriggled the tightly wadded baggie stuffed into the tiny purse onto the old scarred desk, unrolled it, plucked a toothpick from behind her ear and started skewering golden raisins one at a time. Poked 'em, lined 'em up on the desk and tried to decide if she should eat them front to back or back to front. She wished she had a coin to toss. Decisions made her anxious.
Maddie had always been orderly. She felt strange, knew this was in order, but completely odd. Out of character. She hated raisins, all raisins. She never ate food off of toothpicks. She didn't know where she got the coin purse or why she had a toothpick stuck behind her ear. She felt sorry for the small wrinkly ugly raisins. She knew she had to eat them.
She was so absorbed in her own preoccupation that it took awhile before she noticed how still and quiet her classroom of young students was. Not a sound, no scraping of desks, no nervous coughing or whispering back and forth..........no noise at all. She looked up slowly, why did she feel so dull? The childrens heads were down. As she looked up, they looked up. Their eyes were an unearthly pale beige. Neither warm nor cool........every pair of eyes was staring at her. Young bodies with these pale pale empty eyes. They were so still.
Maddie had the strongest desire to scream and scream, but she couldn't. She pierced one golden raisin with her toothpick, popped it into her mouth and began to count. She knew she had to chew 103 times before she would be allowed to scream.
No clue where this could go or if it even should. I'm going to ice some sweet rolls now and wait for something to happen.
I'm already wondering if Maggie is delusional, if Stephen King will help me with story development, if I will drop the idea and forget all about it. If the kids are sly, sneaky, not of this place---casting a spell on their teacher........is this magic or coming from darkness? Is it the ringmaster or the giant flying cat Hortense from the lone remaining tree branch within the darkwood galaxy? ancestors used to call it oak.........wait stop it, getting way too silly. Frosting time, definitely. And a cuppa tea.
Hope your dinner is yummy, that something lovely came about today........be safe and be good. xo.
Can't remember the name of the doctor or the PAC I'm seeing for tomorrow's appointment. I know how to get there though. 1:30. got it..........three sticky notes should help right?
done yammering now.

I\'ll take a dozen of those warm cinnamon rolls right now - sounds so good!!!
Would Charlotte Church be the singer you are thinking about?
Can\'t help you with the movie titles though as I am not a Stephen King fan - maybe the only person in America that has never seen one of his movies or read one of his books.
I just LOVE readin your Journals you are such a great writer..love love love it.
I\'m a SK freak!! Some of his stuff has scared me half to death! I couldn\'t finish reading \"Pet Cemetary\" but I love his stuff.
The cinnamon rolls smell wonderful all the way over here!!
\"I\'m begging you for Mercy\"...yea I loved that song. I\'d send you the link...but that would get us nowhere, would it!
OK, loved your yammering. Please continue to do it!
