Paperwork after your loved one dies sucks
The paperwork after your loved one dies sucks. It is not fair that the person you loved most in the world dies. The insult to injury is all the paperwork, getting rid of stuff, clearing up accounts or estates, etc. What is a person worth when they die? All the assets it seems, what is in their bank account, home, car, clothes and any valuables. Are we really the some of the things that we have, which seems really shallow to me? Are we not worth more than the things that we have or own? When my Smokey died, I went into a state of shock. Later, I was angry about it all. There are various stages of grief that we all know. Smokey was more than all the things he accumulated in his life. I loved him as he was my soul mate and the love of my life. There will never be anyone like him on this planet. No one can replace Smokey. We are all made unique and one of a kind. There is no one like us either on this earth. You can never replace the love of your life that is for sure. How we heal from this is anyones guess? It is the hardest thing to do is heal from the loss of the love of your life. Is it ever possible? I would really like to know if this is possible. I find it highly unbelievable at the moment.

Diane, I feel the same as you, that there will never be anyone else for me. However, a friend here at DS has possibly met someone, a widower. She is not sure yet, but he might be her next true love. She felt like we do and never thought for a second that there would ever be anyone else for her. I can think of someone famous who lost his first wife to cancer, then finally met the right woman after a few years. They did not marry until they had already had one child. After they married they had another child and are still a happy family. I saw his bio on tv the other day. I know it is possible for some people and it does happen, but maybe not for you or me. Personally, I do not plan on ever taking any interest in anyone ever again. Patti
...And you\'re right, the paperwork and taking care of things that belonged to our loved ones really does suck. I dread having to go home to do all of this and move down here, because once I get there I am going to want to stay!!! I miss my home, my land, OUR LIFE THERE so horribly!!! I know I will never have a home as nice as we had, or a life like we had together. Anyway, hugs to you, Patti
Paperwork and resolving business matters is stressful. Generally we had our spouses to help us with things like this - now we are alone and taking care of paperwork we never thought we would have to handle.
I\'m sorry you are hurting.

Going to the bank and taking care of the joint accounts we had was by far one of the hardest things I had to do since my mom passed away. Getting the paperworks done is such...final. It\'s almost like releasing the balloons in their memory. A realization that they\'re not coming back and eventually, we have to let them go. You\'re right, they can\'t be replaced and we shouldn\'t even try to replace them. All we can do is live the life in their honor. Live the way they did and not wait for death to happen. One day, we will smile again and try to live again, keeping our loved ones safely tucked inside. Take care dear...
