Pain must be felt

So yet again I feel that familiar tidal wave of grief hit me from out of nowhere. Oh I have been progressing through the smaller waves that bring on quick, hot tears. I know they erode away the remaining emotions for the wife I believed I once had. But I thought my last deep plunge into the tragic pain of loss was THE last. I was wrong.

So I took a day off. I went home to process. I realize now, I cannot escape this pain or believe it will simply dissipate if I ignore it.

Pain must be felt.

That sentence came from the book/movie "The Fault in Our Stars." How true that line is. So I resolve to feel every bit of the pain until it is used up. Maybe then it will lose its hold on my broken heart.

In that story, I also love the line that says,  "You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world... but you do have some say in who hurts you." I know the author was talking about the inevitability of death of the ones you love. The pain from betrayal and rejection from the ones you love is a different matter entirely. Our betrayers and vow-breakers do not deserve to have pain felt because of them. I will persevere and break free of this. With God's help I will.

Greg, stay strong, stay positive. Feel the pain but try to limit how long it lingers.

I am telling myself that every hour of every day. I have come to the conclusion regardless of how much this is hurting me and how much pain I am feeling this will not define who I am and who I will be.

I have lost something in my life that was the most important to me but pushing forward is the only way to go.

I am sorry I was MIA but I needed time to collect myself and find my reality again.

I wish you strength in your battle. I am here for you as you are for me.

We will get through this, we will be better people from this, we will be happy and realize this chapter in our lives is only a chapter and not the end of the novel.

Prayers and strength to you my friend.

Thank you. You are a true friend. I feel better having you back. You\'re right. We will make it and be better somehow for having gone through this.
