OPPORTUNITIES TURNED DOWN

25 days, but who's counting?? My husband finally got home; he's been gone most of the last few weeks, and tonight we had a nice dinner together. Enjoyable!  The week was rough workwise - extremely busy.  In this economy, though, I'm thankful to have a position... I turned down another casino opportunity to watch a slot tournament someone was in... somehow I don't think I would have just "watched", but I don't want to underestimate my commitment either.  I just don't want to put myself in that environment and test it, make myself vulnerable and start all over!!  It seems all of this casino stuff is coming up lately with people... on one hand, people are saying they are watching every penny due to the economy, but then they seem to have money for the casinos.  Don't quite understand it. I mentioned before a good friend moved to Israel to be with her husband; well, I knew a while back in my gut that it was not going to work between them... as it turned out, as I always suspected the guy has a serious gambling problem!  She grossly underplayed it for a long time, but now the truth came out.  She is back in the states and cannot live with what he has been doing; thousands and thousands of dollars; can't get his feet on the ground, etc. She & I also used to go to casinos but relatively speaking our gambling was not as severe, though it still was a major addiction, at least for me... I'm soo glad my friend is back and can start her life again... he really is not stable. It made me think again about how many areas are affected when this addiction takes over. It's sad; heartbreaking for the family, but only he can make the changes. I've learned so much from DS and everyone's thoughts.  Just for today, I WILL NOT GAMBLE!Thank you all,Smokeygirl
