one week post op
I was feeling much better today. Only using meds at night to sleep. I decided to go out for a walk since my doc was really harping on me to walk. I walked to my mailbox (about a block and a half each way). I was proud of my achievement (I found it extremely difficult before surgery) but about 5 minutes after I came in my side started hurting me, burning inside. Idk if I did something wrong or something tore, or if its normal. I see the doc tomorrow so hopefully will find out then. Unfortunately, they did not cut out my cravings when they did the surgery cuz I am really craving chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and birthday cake. I have been looking up recipes for liquid diets so I can add some variety but haven't had a whole lot of luck. did find a few things though. Found some "ify" things I want to run by the doc tomorrow and see if it's ok. I did lose 4 of the 10 lbs fluid weight I put on during surgery. It's kind of discouraging though, I really didn't count on weight gain. Ithought I would see at least a small loss right away. I know it will come though, just need to be patient.

Don\'t get discouraged girl! Everyone is different in their weight loss, and your body is still recovering from major surgery. The weight loss will come. Just resist those cravings and keep walking to the mailbox every day. (Assuming the doc says it is ok)

You will be confused quite a bit in the coming weeks about what exactly you can and want to eat compared to what you think you want. In time the desire to eat the foods you mentioned will change drastically. It doesnt happen right away but soon enough you will not even think about things like chicken fried steak of B-day cake.. the thought of it will make ya feel queasy like it does me.. hehe.
You are doing great.. take it one day at a time.. you will feel some aches and pains and thats normal. Don\'t be afraid to call the docotor\'s office inbetween visits.. thats what they are there for and what youre paying for.. it was major surgery and they have aftercare!!.. Good Luck!!
Thanks guys, that\'s helpful. I feel a bit better now.
