One More Stupid Brother Phone Call.

in the last few weeks I have been working to fix up my sisters house. Part of this is having my brother take all his stuff and my fathers old tools and parts out of the back yard and garage. While there my brother finds things wrong with the house and tells me about them. He asks if I want him to fix some of them and I tellĀ  him go ahead but then he expects me to pay him for it. Anyway,he told me about how the shower door does not close all the way or sticks at the bottom so is too hard for my sister to close and that I should have who ever I get to do the handyman work to look at it. I looked at it and fixed it myself.
Also the cable was having some trouble, we had a new roof put on the house and the roofers must have knocked the sat dish out of alignement, and so my brother made an appointment to have the cable guy come check it and then called me and asked if I would wait there between noon and five. Does this get to you as much as it does me. He made an appointment and then calls and wants me to be there for when he made it. I couldn't be there and so he had to be there. The cable was fixed but my sisters video/dvd player wasn't working so they called and made another appointment for Monday. On Sunday I went over after church and fixed it so canceled the appointment.
Today, Monday, I was over there doing some more fixing and cleaning and dealing with things and then went home.
My brother calls and says, "Didn't Alisa (my sister) have an appointment to have the cable guy come over today?" I told him yes but I fixed the problem so canceled it.
But I'm wondering why he would call and even ask this? Is there some need for him to verify that I was there to take care of it? Does he have to check that I did what I was supposed to do? I"m not sure any of those are reasons he called but I can't figure out why he would call to ask me this.
Then he says, "Did you have the shower door fixed? It is working really good now." I said, I fixed it. He said, "You fixed it yourself?" I told him yes. Then he asks how and I told him. and he asks, "You figured that out yourself?" I'm getting a bit irritated now and say, "yes and I fixed the garage door also."
The garage door had been off center for a while and when it closed you had to go and push one corner down all the way. Every time I used the garage door when he was there my brother would tell me that I had to make sure it was closed all the way by pushing the corner down. He has this habit of continually telling me and likely others the same thing over and over like we are all idiots and can't remember anything or cna't figure it out for ourselves. I really got tired of hearing him say this as well as having to push the corner down so I fixed it a while ago. He had not seemed to notice. Since he was treating me like I'm an idiot and was so surprised that I had fixed anything when I had been fixing lots of things for weeks. I threw that in since he had not even tried to do anything about it himself. He is good at telling a person something needs to be done but not so good at doing it himself.
but, I can't understand why he is calling me to ask about the appointment and the shower. Both were obviously taken care of so why the need to ask it I had done it. Who else would have done it if he dint.
Maybe next time I will act as if I have no idea what he is talking about and don't know how whatever he is asking about got done. Problem is the humor of the situation doesn't occur to me till after I have had a chance to calm down from the irritation and anxiety that these stupid phone calls cause me.
Peace.

I wanted to add after more than ten years, he still does this. He tells you to do the same thing over and over. and it is usually something really basic, common sense to do it that way. HE also calls to tel me to do something I have already done or always do, or already knew how to do.
It is very irritating, He treats me, and likely others, as if we are idiots. He either thinks we can't figure it out for ourselves, or maybe didn't hear him the first five times he told us.
The last time he repeated himself about how to do a thing to me, I said, "Of course I do it that way, it is only common sense." There was an awkward pause and then he said, Yeah, I guess it is common sense."
