One Big "Joyride", and some more!

???My husband, Tim, was supposed to go on a mission trip to New York City this week as a requirement for credit hours toward his degree.  Tim tried and tried for the last two weeks to contact a couple of people at the college in Pineville (there's nothing in Pineville, population 2,000, nestled in the hills of Eastern Kentucky) to verify everything, but he couldn't get anyone.  Tim had only been told what time and where to meet and where the team was going -- he didn't even know what day they'd be back.  The Veteran's Admin. said everything was good to go on their side.                                                                                  ???Students are not allowed to leave vehicles on campus, so we went the 250 miles together in my car Sunday afternoon.  I was going to come back home after he left, then return and pick him up after the trip was over.  We got to the campus.  A room had been prepared for us and the key was left in an envelope on a rack, with Tim's name and address on it, inside the door of the dorm.                                                                                                   ???The troupe was scheduled to meet in the parking lot at 3:30 am, Eastern time (that's 2:30 am for us!) this morning.  So, we rolled out of bed at 1:30 to get ready.  We drove to meet the people at the appointed time.  Tim got out of the car and I switched over to the driver's seat.  I overhead the professor tell Tim that there was a problem -- the funding didn't come through for Tim, so they did not make reservations for him and he couldn't go.                                                                                                          ???Tim got back in the car and drove to the dorm building.  I got my suitcase and we came home.  What an impression that made on me.  Ahhhem, Tim thought I was going to live there, as happy as a hungry rat in a full corn crib???  Yepper!  Let's go to Pineville.  I sit in an apartment alone all day with nothing to do and nowhere to go while you spend all of your time in class and study groups with your buddies.   somebody get a moving van and let's load up!                                            I'm exhausted, now, shaky tired ... and I have to cook something for supper.
I've also had a rash on my eyelids since February.  It spread.  I let it go until until one eye started swelling and my vision started to blur.  I finally went to the emergency room with it  (because it's a wait time of about 4 weeks to get a scheduled appt to see a doc) a week a go.  The er doc thinks it an allergy.  He gave me some allergy meds and told me not to wear make-up.  My eye swelled again Saturday and yesterday, but we still had to go to Pineville.  My eye is still puffy today, but it's better.
On the up side, Tim gave our dogs their wormer medication a few days ago --- just wait, it really was an upper for me!  Not a problem with Amos and Bumbles.  Tim mixed their meds in some food and they slurped it right up!  Miss Lizzie was a different story.  When Tim called and called to her, she wouldn't even come in the house for Tim.  She just stood in the carport and stared at him with her head cocked to one side.  I went to the door and said, "Lizzie Liz, what'cha doin'?", and she pranced right in.  I sat down in a recliner and Lizzie bounced up in the chair with me.  Tim mixed her meds in a bowl with some leftover hamburger macaroni and cheese ... foolproof plan, right?  He brought the bowl over to Lizzie and she wouldn't touch the stuff!  I told Tim to give me the bowl.  I held the bowl for Lizzie and she slurped the stuff up and licked the bowl clean.  Tim was soooooo aggravated! Te-he-he-he-he!  I love when stuff like that happens!  Once you have that magic touch with animals, you never lose it, do you?
Hugs to everyone!

It seems Lizzie is wrapped round your little finger.
What a mixed up trip for you and Tim. Wouldn\'t you think they would have notified him? 250 miles is a lot of miles.

You were a good wife - it sounds like a situation where I would want to say, \"I told you so.\" Not that I would say it, but I might think it. Hopefully things like this might be a wake up call to Tim and lead him into keeping his promise to work on things with you.

How frustrating to go all that way for nothing! Talk about a breakdown in communication. You\'d think someone would have let him know.
Sorry about the allergy. I hope the medicine is helping.
And yep! We have that special touch with our furbabies that never gives away.
Hope you\'re getting some rest. Big hugs to you and your pooches!
