On Loving and Dying
I'm having a blessed day. I say blessed now, instead of I'm good. Or I'm doing well because these conditions change. One moment I'm feeling good, the next, I'm not. Still, I'm blessed every second of my life.
Today, I was sad to read that one of our members is planning suicide. This hurts on so many levels. Marriage is a blessing from God. Marriage is something that many desire and some are denied, but all marriages end in death or divorce. So, just by the mere act of getting married, we're destined to experience sadness.
A few months ago I wondered if it was all worth it. Was loving and marrying the man of my dreams worth the agony I now suffer on a daily basis? At the time, I wasn't too sure. But now, I'd do it again because I had so many years of happiness, so many blessing for knowing him. But it doesn't work out that way for all of us. Some of us are so shattered by the loss of the person we love that they don't recover and consider suicide. Would they think it was worth loving and marrying if they'd known how it would end? It's a question that will always haunt me.

I would marry my husband over again, I am thankful we had 20 years of marriage, were together 21 yrs when he passed. It taught me alot, loving him, going thru alot together over the years, I feel it made me stronger. I am in a relationship now with a new man, been together 19 months now. I guess I am one that needs someone in my life, to take care of and be there for.

I\'d married bigbear over again in a New York minute, knowing he was 14 years older than me, we figured he\'d die first, but didn\'t plan on it happening when he was only 72, we hoped he\'d live to be a ripe old age, but cancer had a different plan for us.....took us both 2 times to find one another and it was the happiest time of our lives....
I wouldn\'t have missed one second of being with Jim even if I had know how difficult this journey has been. He brought me the only true love and joy I have even known. It was worth it all.....even if the grief had been a million times worse.
Definitely worth it! And while I wish we could have avoided the misery of the 3 years of cancer, in many ways, we grew closer in that time than we had ever been in the previous 25 years. I learned a lot about Dan that I didn\'t know and learned a lot from him that helps me now. I am convinced that I am now a better person for having gone through that ordeal with him and most assuredly a better person just for having known him.
God blesses us with life. God gives and God takes away. Blessed be the name of our Lord God Almighty. It is not up to us to question how our lives our working out. I would not have chosen this path if I knew my heart was going to be shattered in a million pieces but at the same time I would never give up having been with the love of my life and soul mate. I am glad I had only ten short beautiful years with Smokey. I got to know what real love was for me. It\'s a cliche I know but knowing what true love is a wonderful thing. I would not give that up at all not even in a heart beat. I thank God for giving me ten years with Smokey. It is my opinion only from Diane B.
as a song line goes...I would have missed the pain but then I would have missed the dance...that is how life is. Or more like Mike would say...it is what it is...
