Olivia did arrive

Baby Olivia did finally arrive at 10:14 p.m.  She was 8.8 pounds (huge!) and 21.5 inches long.  Labor was an absolute nightmare for me.  They induced me and initially it went really slowly.  I didn't have trouble until they broke my water around mid-day.  When that happened, things went wrong.  The pain was the most intense that I have every experienced.  I had an epidural -- which worked for a while, until the pain returned.  It was so intense again that I was thowing up.  It turns out that she was facing the wrong direction and I was having back labor.  When I finally dilated enough to push, I did so for several hours, but she wouldn't descend.  Turns out she was stuck in my pelvis.  After another hour of waiting through heavy contractions to see if she'd move, she decided she wasn't going anywhere.  After showing some signs of distress, they ended up taking her via a c-section. Hearing her cry was the most moving experience of my life.  She came out hollering like a banshee, so I knew she was healthy.  I cried my eyes out.  She was worth every horrible bit of labor.  She is the most beautiful baby and I have enjoyed her very much.  Breast feeding was initally a challenge, but we're now settled into a pattern and doing very well.  She keeps me up have the night and all I can do is eat, sleep, and take care of her.  I have to nap half the day away, cause she is awake mostly at night.  All the same, I still love her to death. Having the c-section has been especially a challenge.  At first, all I could really do is feed her, because I couldn't carry her around easily at all.  Almost 10 days later, things are better, but the pain is still very much present.  We're surviving, but it is the most challenging thing that I have ever been through.
