"Ok to lie, not just to me"
Most evenings when it's just my wife and I, she will ask me as we are falling asleep, "Still doing good, no lies?" My answer is always a "yes" of some sorts. Last night, she asked me the same question but finished with "well at least with me, I don't care about anyone else." I didn't take this for more than face value or read into any secret meaning. But it made me think back to when I started this journey and how you have to make it about yourself. That statement is proof positive, if I only stopped lying to her, but continued to lie to everyone else, then that solves a short term goal, but not the long term goal of breaking the lying cycle. I know she didn't mean it any way to disrupt my healing but ultimately she's concerned for her and that's understandable. I could take the easy short way but without challenge their is no reward, so I will continue on the path I set for myself and weather it's sometimes rough terrain because I know that living a lie free lifestyle is my long term goal.
