oh boy.....
wiped out after the day of all things thankful. from Thursday night until now.......non stop action SLEEPING FOR MORE THAN A DAY.......my body aches from the bed. but i am fresh from a shower, clothes are being cleaned.....dishes were unloaded, meds taken, kitties FED.....life moves along at a pancake flat pace of days of old.....from before we knew the world was a rotating spherical beaut of a blue marble.
my tooth cracked. this is not good. already restricted to eating on only the left side of my mouth, tooth got hit hard by a nut of some kind. not sure which nut cracked my sweet broken toothie, but it is sad, sore and makes it too hard to eat.
i suppose this means go get ice cream...as in when life hands you a cracked tooth, get ice cream, add chocolate syrup, fresh banana and delight in a chocolate banana smoothie. this is a possibility. right now driving is not a high priority. i have some canned soup......broccoli, cheese, potato chowder......which might be a good solution. it's tasty. involves very little chewing and it's warm......the day is quite chilly, 41 degrees. i am wearing long patterned leggings. a black background, with roses and leaves, a cute grape colored top......pink slippers.......and plan to go grab a sweater in a NY minute. and some of those warm toe hugging no slip slipper socks. gotta keep the tootsies WARM & COZY.
hope the dentist can get me in on Monday. what a mess. about Turkey Day......pre arrival my oven door wouldn't completely close. uhhhhh oh! almost closed but no cigar. so i opted to not make the turkey, fear of it not being properly cooked weighed heavily on me so i decided the pork roast would have to shine along with all of the yummy sides. it cooked from 2:30 am until serving time.....1:30. it was PERFECT!
Thanksgiving was a success! truly......everyone helped, which is quite a feat in a smallish kitchen. we are all tall adults, i am the shortest at 5' 7" but people always seem to think i'm taller......my son in law was very surprised, he has always thought that i am 5' 9" tall.......i like the way he "sees me" ......i had lost two inches of height and then regained one......so i went from 5'8" to 5'6" to finally 5'7". sara, derian and sam are all around 6 feet.......so i feel like i am amidst the very talling when we are all in this house.
sam was making the green beans on the stove while derian & sara pealed potatoes, then made zucchini strips for our "zoodles" in fresh alfredo sauce. everyone was constantly doing something to make our meal a success......and they were patient with me which is a big BIG PLUS for a great day. sam loaded up the oven with the endless side dishes......derian went out to pick some fresh thyme, sara was doing the cleaning up as you go method as we have very limited counter space......it was working well. i went out to show derian where the thyme was......just then the leaves came down in a flourish.......dancing in the wind. twirling and whirling.......dozens and dozens of leaves.....gold, red, shades of browns.......wonderful. derian stopped, stretched his arms to the sky and began to turn.......to feel the wind, to celebrate the beauty of this moment. i could see the boy he had been, that he still has the wonder of childhood in him today, and the father he could be......all in the blink of an eye. thank you God for letting me be a part of that moment.
my tooth is driving me crazy.
i have had a Christmas Cactus plant for two years, it bloomed on Thanksgiving morning.......the first luscious deep cherry red bloom. humbling.....and marvelous.
we ate dinner on the china that has been too long stored and not enough used.....it is very pretty, delicate ivory with pale flowers edged in silver. the goblets added to the grandness of our celebration.....our own little private restaurant at Sparrow's Cottage.....with Momma so happy.
feeling wimpy all of a sudden......think i need to lie down. ......about to listen to my body. yup, time to lay down.......well rats. doggone, but i gotta .......so b-y-e for now. talk soon. xoxo. moi

Sparrow - hate to hear about the broken tooth. Sure hope you are able to get it fixed soon.
Thanksgiving wiped me out too & I did not do any cooking - just went to a sister's for lunch.
Best wishes!!!
Sounds like a wonderful day, Serce. So glad you could work together to make a meal in a small space - sounds like it was very well choreographed. Love the image of your son in law rejoicing in the falling leaves! Sorry to hear about your cracked tooth - I have given my teeth more thought in the last 2 years than all the other years of my life combined. I guess like everything else in our body, they are aging! Hugs and love. ELLE
Sounds like a successful day! I'm sorry about the tooth though, but I totally agree that when life hands you a broken tooth, it's a sign that you should get ice cream. We had our Thanksgiving today and I am wiped out. Pablo cooked, but I'm still wiped out. I'm skipping church tomorrow. There's no way I can get out after the day I've had. Love you.
happy about your wonderful Thanksgiving and sad about your tooth. teeth can be SO aggravating when they don't cooperate! It's nice to celebrate and use the good china. No... it's more than nice, it is important. Like a rejoicing of the soul and a thankful spirit. We did that also. I pulled out three green-glass delicate goblets that a dear friend gave me before she died. The set has all been broken (sometimes just by looking at them in the wrong way) except those three. Thankfully we only needed three this year and it was so special. Hope things go well with your tooth repair this week! xoxo
I enjoyed your journal so much, especially your son-in-law and the leaves. But no fair and no fun that you broke your tooth. I hope you can get in to see your dentist Monday. Wishing you love and no pain.
Hugs too!!!!
