Off topic but...

I am tired of my cable bill. I like what I can watch on cable but its cost is wayyyyyyy out of hand. I am going to get sling tv. I probably won't be able to watch so much of what I like, but I'll be saving money and also be able to live a little more too. $207 a month for cable is bonkers. Quite literally this is a week's wages for me. Bleep that! Lol

I left the cable world 6 years ago and went to roku TV with sling and hulu and don't miss anything I ever had on cable and pay less than half of what I paid with cable.

You can always tell them you're quitting and see what they offer you.

Good for you to find a different way to watch television.

It truly depends on what you want to watch. A friend wrote out everything they like to watch and checked out different methods of television viewing.

Best wishes!

Just curious, buttttaaaa. . . How can one go Off Topic in a personal journal? You the boss, judge, jury and consumer advocacy board here.

I'm pretty hooked on streaming. I can't remember the last time I watched a commercial or had to sit through a propaganda spiel, but I still have to pay for the internet connection. That ain't cheap, either.

thanks guys! I watch very much the same stuff all the time: PBS, BBC WORLD NEWS, CNN, TCM, Smithsonian Channel
and sometimes I will switch over to see what's on Fox and MSNBC. Just to keep aware.

PBS you'd have to pick up with a regular antenna, which you can get at bestbuy for $10 or $15...none of the internet TV packages carry local channels.

And the BBC channel is BBC America, it doesn't run any BBC News.

I’ve never had cable since moving out of my parents house at age 19.

I have Hulu that I pay for. Share Disney plus with a friend and Netflix with my brothers. And I got a Samsung smart tab that has a bunch of channels just with internet. I have an old roku on the older tv in another room and watch Roku and Sling and crackle and Vudu and whatever else there is. Mooore than enough to watch!!!

I got rid of cable...ouch!!! 207 a month! Mine was almost 100. for basic channels. Anyway, now I just have hulu, got rid of netflix cause they kept the same stuff on for ages and I pay for no commercials on utube...well worth the 13 per month for no interruptions! I think you can find most of the programs you watch on utube...have fun with 207 in your pocket :) Thought I'd try this for you and food...one pot cooking...lots of recipes are pasta :) Took me a bit to watch all of them, but picture at the end, and ingredients are all listed...fast speed prep :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M61viP3prdQ
