odd but true

the world keeps on spinning........i'm right here.  my son just commented on how i am talking about incredibly dull stuff at present........ya think?  being on lockdown means that minutae takes on added importance.........i was telling him about bendy silicone straws and that my relatively new vaccuum quit working........it was fine on Monday and other ground baking scintillating topics.........but jeez a lou.........i'm in my house 24/7 without any other ears to listen or faces to talk to or voices to speak back to me.  phone calls/emails only go so far.........this is a human separation that makes it tough. and this is coming from a woman who has led a life filled with health challenges due to a compromised autoimmune system.  One who has spent weeks and weeks alone these past many years.........my little life before covid included community activities as I was able and now that they are all cancelled I feel that my yard is an island....but sadly there is no sand, no hot tub, no pool........no cabana boy.........no drinks in coconuts with cute little umbrellas.........oh well.  a dry island........in a land where it rains all the time.  odd but true.

I totally understand where you are coming from, Ruthie. I've had a few socially distant visits with kids/grandkids and one doctor's visit SINCE Christmas. I was avoiding the flu, and before you know it, I was avoiding COVID. My doctor told me to stay put for the time being. My life is so mundane that I was plenty interested to hear about your vacuum and your straws :-). One day at a time is the only way I'm getting through this. And by praying for the grace to thrive in this difficult situation. I just remembered something! I bought silicone straws at a cute little gift shop last summer and forgot all about them until you mentioned them in this journal. I'm going to go look for where I put them. Hugs and love, ELLE
