obsession with scars
Okay, this is going to sound weird, but I'm OBSESSED with scars, and not in the usual way.
I used to self-harm by cutting, but recently I've switched to burning myself. While cutting did give me a satisfied feeling watching the blood flow, burning my arm by holding a lit match close to it hurts (in my opinion) more and leaves a much more 'satisfying' result: a permanent scar.
I don't know why, but I basically thrive off of pain, either my own of pain I've caused others. There are some people I wish to never EVER hurt, but I get my strenght from watching the people who abused, neglected, belittled and betrayed me break down and cry. I desperately wish I could cause them unphantomable pain and suffering, the kind you cannot escape, and the thought alone makes me grin in delight. I know this is wrong, which is why I originally began self-harming: It's either me or someone else who's going to get it.
A few months after I began cutting I noticed that every time when I got pissed and I'd cut the anger would just instantly vanish. It was nice, and it became a safer way to cope with things ( at least, safer than beating someone to a pulp and risk going to prison for it). After a while I ended up burning myself.
It all started as an idea really: 'what if I burn myself?'. Like most of my self-harm thought the thought remained persistent until I decided to try it, and I was HAPPY with the result: a scar.
Somehow that single scar has been driving me further and further: It started out as a small 1cmx1cm scar, and now it covers about most of the top of my wrist. I don't even burn myself anymore to get rid of my anger, I just want the scar to get bigger! I've even planned out other parts of my body I wish to mutilate, and to be honest it can't really be healthy to do that.
So....does anyone know if there's a name for an obsession like this one? Because I feel like there's no one alive who has the same thing I have....
