Now I wait.
So now I'm waiting, amidst moving into a new address, for the letters that will tell me when I can see the gender specialist and when I'm to see my surgeon again to plan out the next surgery. I hate waiting, especially for things like this.
On a happier note, my mother has asked me to go with her and her sister to the opera next month. I can dress any way I please.... I guess this is how Mom plans on "helping" me come out to her sister. Unless I shave my face, I'll have about 2inches of hair-growth by then; and will look just right in my new suit. Of course, Mom may change her mind at any time and ask me to shave and wear something else; but I can also opt out of going if that happens - or politely reach a compromise we can both live with.
I'm going to be in better shape by then - because I don't need to hide behind all this fat anymore, and I got a reel mower - if I don't push it along, it won't spin and cut the grass. If the grass goes uncut, my new landlord won't be happy. I want to keep the landlord happy, and I want to loose weight and get in shape. Plus, it's better for the environment - no gas used, no oil, no fumes or noise. Cheaper too. I can also cut the grass any time, day or night, without bothering my neighbors. It'll be a workout, but as long as I pace myself and keep hydrated, I'll be fine. Just allow more time to get it done. The weight won't fall off immediately, and it's going to take time to shape up; but it's a start. Glad I have an MP3 player. Music makes everything go better. Plus, I'm going to begin working out in my new home - private and more open space.
After all, if I'm going through all this to become the guy I am inside, why not become the best-looking me I can on the outside? I'm not imagining anything like the Hulk, or Arnold Schwartznagger; just a reasonably trim and fit body. Months to remove decades of flab and correct a lifetime of self-neglect. All part of beginning to love myself at last. How many months? Who knows? Real change takes time.
I'm doing this because I want to.
Throwing aside the fear, and the fat and clutter I hid behind; peeling away the self-abuse and self-neglect along with it to finally stand free and openly as who I am. NOT as who others wanted me to be.
I'm proud of who I am. I should take a little pride in how I look, and live healthier.
For MYSELF.
I do that, and everything I'm going through is worth it.
A phoenix is the essence of life, given form - as both bird and flame. It cycles through rising up, living, and self-destruction to rise up once again.
Time to shake off these ashes of my past and live.
I can see the sky; let me strengthen my wings and take flight.
