November 11, 2010 Left Breast appt update
Hi friends, Went to Roswell to my appt to see my breast cancer surgeon from last year, Dr Kulkarni. First, I had to go back to the mammo room and have them take a few more pics of my left breast. HOW MANY DO THEY HAVE TO TAKE!! Jeez..... After I was finished, I had to peek and see if my aunt was in the hall. Boy it looked busy, she was outside in the hall waiting for me. I brought her in and talked to Dr Bonaccio. she told me even though the biopsy reports say "no cancer" she doesn't believe its nothing. so, they decided to cut the thing out. sort of like a lumpectomy. when I went to the breast cancer center next door, It was decided to get this done at the end of the month (11/30/10). I don't want to ruin another xmas with another surgery(I had my last lumpectomy on 12/15/09, prior to joining DS - I was in my 2-3 week radiation when I joined here). I hope to be almost healed by xmas and new years. when they take it out, they will send it to pathology and we will know once and for all whether its cancer or not. Although I am hopeful its nothing, I will accept and deal with whatever this comes up. I just got off the phone with valerie the PA over at the radiation center (I still keep up with her - she is my sounding board). I asked her if it is cancer whether that means that the radiation would be shorter. she said no. Doesn't matter whether or not its larger/bigger, its all the same - 6 1/2 weeks. Oh well..... We'll climb that rope when we find out. right now, they said its smaller than the last time - 2-3 mm instead of 4-5 mm the last time. The recovery time from this lumpectomy is shorter. I would only be out of work for a week (7 days). Fine by me. Lets all cross our fingers again that this lumpectomy comes out as "non cancerous" FOR SURE! Hate the thought of being put under the knife again. I didn't have all you wonderful people the last time I went though this but this time I do. I wish I had more positive things to tell you about this. Its beyond that now. whatever comes, I will be ready for it.
Went to a breast cancer support dinner last night with my mother. I was proud to be standing when they asked us to stand up. I was the only one at my table to do so. I have one of those pink wrist bands that I now wear. Its white/pink and it says "Hope" "strength" with the breast cancer symbol. wonder if they have anything like that for PKD. I can wear that on the other hand. will try and find out.
Now we will have a count down for surgery. Today is 11/11, 20 more days and counting.

Good luck, Jen. I sure wish they wouldn\'t make you wait so long just for the surgery. Lots of hugs and prayers, Ruth
My thoughts, love and prayers are with you.
Jen my thoughts will be with you. If you need someone to talk to, please keep me in mind. I am a three time cancer survivor. Uterine, cervical, and ovarian. You are a true survivor..you must be for all that you have already dealt with. Yes, no fun dealing with this around the holidays, but really no good time. Go tackle it head on and move on with life..you are very brave!
hugs..xxx
My thoughts are with you. I\'m praying that it is not cancerous and you are a very strong woman. Keep it up, you are very positive!

Hi Jenn, wonderful to hear all went well. Prayers are with you & fingers are all crossed. Regarding the bracelets, when I did my local PKD walk a couple years ago they gave out teal colored bracelets; I\'m not sure if you can buy them through the website, but, it may be something to look into. Glad all is on the right road, I havent been on in a long while since, so much going on. I\'ll have to email when you when i have a chance; that much drama. Happy Holidays, ttys.
