notes from behind the iconostasis
I think I am starting to realize - just as I was resourceful at work yesterday when I decided
not to self abuse to get the work done but to find purposeful positive motivation to get on with my work -
so too, in my downtime I need to be as a more resourceful about deciding what to do
with my time - I am also recognizing - (as when I become involved with my personal
life in an inventive way) - I can also then see how the church is there for providing
the basic structure for which to affirm my humanity and identity and keep going onward
in a productive way - so I am starting
to see that is what people can use it for - on a level it is dogma that doesn't change -
so it's steady - but life can be variable so that
that church can also provide some point of departure for understanding things -
and the impact they have.
just notes
god I think sees us like his children - he knows all sides to us - our good and dark sides too
and still loves us and tolerates us - and provides and guides us -

the mention of god helps me see how I should be -
I heard it said that a person who can see both the truth and the opposite
at the same time can be a good parent and a good business man -
I am seeing how this also is helping me be a better person too -
and a good father to my Blue.
one of my favorite catholic priests claimed he lived his life with the bible in one hand and a newspaper in the other. i guess the "newspaper" offers a clue on how long ago i knew this fella, but. . . insert media of preference here. the principle carries. his take was that the church dogma is his rock of ages; the constant which held him steady through contemporary life.
in my damaged brain, truth is multi-dimensional. i think of truth as a jewel of many facets shift that jewel ever so slightly and it reflects a new perspective. a single fact can carry many truths.

There are so many different ways different people think about things that I am learning about here (at the monastery). It’s wild! This morning brought the realization and recognition that we’re all creating systems to deal with our lives. It’s really amazing!!
