not off to a good start

O.k. Well my goal is to start exercising. I am at 436 lbs now, so that is no easy task. I can do 25 steps at a time on the treadmill, so I decided I can do that 3x a day. It's no marathon, but gotta start someplace. So I did it yesterday fine but today, I woke up so exhausted and I've been tired all day. Haven't done any today. Really having trouble getting motivated.  I guess I just need to get my fat butt up and do it.My eating has slowed down, but I still fit in junk food. I have to lose 40 lbs for my surgery, which would have been fine but they keep moving my surgery back. Losing the weight isnt a problem, the problem is that I gain it back in a blink of an eye. I know I can do this, it's just a matter of getting my brain right. Sometimes I'm afraid to have the surgery, not because it's dangerous, but because of the food I won't be able to have. So now I am in the process of moving my thought patterns away from food and concentrating on my writing, the computer, whatever I can.

I know EAXCTLY how you feel. Sometimes MUSIC really gets me going. I have an mp3 player (IPODs too expensive for me) and its filled with all of my favorite songs...some up-tempo that really make me wanna dance. Once I start dancing, i work up a sweat, and that motivates me to include some exercises also. Before you know it, I have created my own workout for the day. Try making exercising more fun, instead of a daily chore. That works for me. Good Luck! You can do it! I\'m with ya!

I am so with you on that! Before surgery I had such a hard time with the treadmill. I tried and it would just kick my butt everytime. I resorted to making up my own floor exercizes while I watched TV. Leg lifts were my favorite, because they were easy, and strengthened my back muscles, so over time it made it a lot easier to walk. Hang in there! You can do this!!!

I am so with you, too!!! Exercise is actually the last thing I\'ve ever wanted to do; I would much prefer to settle down with a good book and read the day away. Not so good for the metabolism! Thus, here I am today. Once my surgery is over next week, and I begin to lose some of this god-awful weight, I am determined to make some daily activity a regular part of my life. There\'s just no getting around it at this stage of my life!

I too, have been concerned about missing the food (emotional eating, head hunger, etc.), but I\'ve done a lot of serious soul-searching and now do feel I can face that challenge. It\'s just got to be a total life change, as they\'ve told me over and over!
