Not going to be self critical.. but
I'm sitting here with my Dad and stepmom in the great room in their house. I am very grateful to be here with them, to have them in my life. Not a lot of sharing about things, I find myself desperate for things that mean something to me. My Dad is kind of distant and we've got Sunday night football on. Really boring for me.
Maybe if I had a relationship, maybe if I just focus on my friends.
i want to be there for my aging parents but they kind of don't need it and I'm kind of impatient about getting feedback. Maybe I should just change my perspective and enjoy the ride.

Stop, pause, listen to the quiet of the voice, and observe the comfort level of your parents.
What you see as distance, may be the boundary of space that works for them.
Here's to enjoying it, exploring the ways it brings joy, and to being you!
shifting perspective is my own go-to tool for changing the world. am i trapped in the dust bowl AGAIN or am i relearning the dust bowl through the eyes of my 3 orphans?
it's a good day when i learn something, especially when that something challenges my expertise. i thought i knew everything there was to know about the dust bowl. still i miss my rivers, but i go where i am called.
Thanks Mid and Arfie!
Maybe they are just enjoying a comfortable silence? Are you able to do that? Sometimes it can be difficult for some people
Thank Becky!! A good thought!!
