I was raised to be open minded and accepting, and I respect others' views and opinions, until those views and opinions keep equality away from a very large portion of our citizens.
My best friend since middle school is gay, she has always been there for me and I will always be there for her. Because best friends are family, and that is what family does for one another. Back in middle school I had to see her cry because no one knew but me, she was afraid she would lose all her friends, that her family would hate her. And now, as seniors, I get to see her shine, being proud of who she is, and not caring of what others think of how she lives her life. It makes me so proud of her to know that she overcame something that a lot of people won't do in their lifetime.
It is saddening that children would rather take their own lives rather than face the kids in school that hate on them for their sexuality. And it doesn't stop with there. Adults too, hide who they are and remain silent because they know people will only shoot them down. Answer this for me: We are all human, and when it comes down to it, all that we have left to lean on is those that we love; so why should we deny marriage to those who love the same sex? Why should we deny someone of that last thing that keeps us standing when we can't hold ourselves up? Does it disgust you? Does it ruin the sanctity of marriage?
A relationship between a man and a man or a woman and a woman doesn't concern you if you aren't in that relationship. And there isn't any more gay PDA than there is straight PDA. As a straight woman myself, any type of PDA grosses me out, I don't hate on gays for holding hands around me just because I'm not gay. I am not afraid of what I don't know.

Would anyone with a brain pick homosexuality? Of course not! They are born this way. In my opinion America is way way to concerned about a person sexuality. What goes on in the privacy of someones bedroom should not concern you unless that activity imposes on your rights. Until it does leave these people alone! I just wrote a long paragraph as a comment and then my computer freezes. *sigh* In a nutshell I was explaining how I\'ve had to deal with homophobic slander in high school for being bi and in a relationship with a girl at the time. I went to a strict catholic private school therefore the kids were a lot more close minded. I had bad luck there. But it taught me how important it is to fight for equality because it really matters that others don\'t have to feel ashamed to be who they are. And that everyone is truly treated equal in this country. So I agree with you on what you said.
