NOT A HORRIBLE DAY!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009:  Today was not horrible.   This past weekend was tough.  Melissa's angel date was the 24th.  And, going to the cemetery's for Memorial Day, is always hard. Anyway, today we had a substitute in our classroom.   As it turned out, she lost two daughters, several years ago, in a car accident.   She still seems very sad but did give me hope that someday this unrelenting pain will be less intense.  We talked quite a bit about many aspects of grief.   At home, I received an email from one of my "Biddy Buddies". That is always a pleasure.  I called her and we are going to meet for lunch on Saturday before going to a bridal shower. (We hope the third "Buddy" will join us, too)  Anyway, she had a "Scott moment" this morning.  It has happened before.....she was trying to exit out of her computer when Scott's memory page popped up. (She could not exit)  The slideshow was slowy moving when, apparently, a photo of me and Scott enlarged itself, by itself.  She was like, "Okay Scott."  I have been meaning to call your mom. I will do it today."  It is always so cool when that happens to her.   The interesting thing about the shower we are going to is, at one point, I expected the bride-to-be, to be, my daughter-in-law.  It seems VERY strange.  And, she is marrying one of Scott's best friends.  I don't think I can go to the wedding.  The weirdness factor is just too much.  But, I do want to honor them and give them a gift. I will be glad to be with my friends there.  (The other "Buddy" is the groom's mom)  And, I do not much care for the bride's mom so I will be glad to have my support system around me. So, not a horrible day.  I made a potential new friend, made plans, and talked to one of my most supportive friends.  Maybe this is called progress.

Wow, your friend\'s experience with Scott\'s memory page is amazing. I hope Scott gives Frazer some ideas of how to get in touch! I\'m sure they have met and brought you and me together, even if only in cyber space at this stage. Hugs, Charlotte.

Yes that would be weird going to the wedding. Bobby\'s girlfriend had a son a few years ago & she named him after Bobby. She was not married to the father, but she told him that is how it was going to be. Now that was weird too..Hugs, Connie

It sounds like an ok day for you. I\'m glad you have met someone you can talk to. I can\'t imagine losing two children at once or at all. It\'s a great fear of mine....losing another one of my children. I\'m glad you made it through the weekend - I know it was hard. One of Nic\'s best friends just got engaged, so the reality of having his friends\' weddings to attend is hitting. I don\'t know how I\'ll feel about that. I think it will be very, very difficult.

I can\'t blame you for not attending the wedding. I still in awe how life just goes on just as if nothing happened. I guess that what grieving does...stops us, frozen in time.

I am so glad for you that you have amazing friends! I know the bridal shower will be bittersweet for you. I know how hard it is to watch everyone else move along while we are stuck in time and just doing the motions to pass it. I am glad you have a positive outlook today. Hugs, Belinda

Hope it goes well at the shower. I can understand not going to the wedding. Last week I met my son\'s girlfriend\'s new boyfriend. That was hard. That is amazing how Scott\'s memory page kept popping up on your friend\'s screen.....another true sign. Happy to see you seem to be making progress....Love, Kim

It is hard that life goes on without us and our children. I still have contact with 2 of my sons girlfriends. Though both of them are married, they neither seem over his death. I could not talk to neither of them for several yrars, but I can now talk to them. I am glad God puts thes people in our paths when we need them. Like your lady at school. I have had experiences like this when I was at my lowest times. Hepl comes when we are not expecting it, Bless youPeggy
