NOT A HORRIBLE DAY!
Wednesday, May 27, 2009: Today was not horrible. This past weekend was tough. Melissa's angel date was the 24th. And, going to the cemetery's for Memorial Day, is always hard. Anyway, today we had a substitute in our classroom. As it turned out, she lost two daughters, several years ago, in a car accident. She still seems very sad but did give me hope that someday this unrelenting pain will be less intense. We talked quite a bit about many aspects of grief. At home, I received an email from one of my "Biddy Buddies". That is always a pleasure. I called her and we are going to meet for lunch on Saturday before going to a bridal shower. (We hope the third "Buddy" will join us, too) Anyway, she had a "Scott moment" this morning. It has happened before.....she was trying to exit out of her computer when Scott's memory page popped up. (She could not exit) The slideshow was slowy moving when, apparently, a photo of me and Scott enlarged itself, by itself. She was like, "Okay Scott." I have been meaning to call your mom. I will do it today." It is always so cool when that happens to her. The interesting thing about the shower we are going to is, at one point, I expected the bride-to-be, to be, my daughter-in-law. It seems VERY strange. And, she is marrying one of Scott's best friends. I don't think I can go to the wedding. The weirdness factor is just too much. But, I do want to honor them and give them a gift. I will be glad to be with my friends there. (The other "Buddy" is the groom's mom) And, I do not much care for the bride's mom so I will be glad to have my support system around me. So, not a horrible day. I made a potential new friend, made plans, and talked to one of my most supportive friends. Maybe this is called progress.
