No More Leg Pulling!

I'm happy to say I stopped my leg-oriented trich for good. My earliest trich memories are of pulling my leg hairs out, and over the years my legs (especially the calves) have gotten all dry and scaly. A bit of Internet research informed me that it's called strawberry legs, but none of the sites mention trichotillomania as a cause of this condition.

Anyway, I've stopped pulling out my leg hair! Of course, it's easier in the winter when I'm always wearing pants or tights, but in past years I would pluck my legs bare in gym class or while changing. Don't even get me started on summer, when I'm wearing shorts and skirts all the time. As well as not plucking my legs anymore, I've started moisturizing and exfoliating them, which is slowly reducing the strawberry spots and making the skin smoother and less dry.

My next goal is to stop with the arms. I used to pull the hairs out a lot there too, but now I do it considerably less.

Yes, I have pulled the hairs on my legs. You are the first person to ever write about it. Thank you for sharing this experience. I stopped when I started wearing bikinis...no extra motivation.

I agree with the moisturizing and the exfoliating of the skin to help your legs completely heal.

I've never done the arms.

I do one eyebrow in the middle and I am well aware it is my 'distress' signal so am working on a positive habit change for the physical sensation it provides.

One of the biggest changes I noticed in keeping a daily journal is that I was able to distract a lot more the more I gave myself positive moments in the journal.

Best wishes!
