NO MEMORIALS WANTED JUST THE LIVE YOU!
I was on facebook today and I found myself going to the page of a 18 year old boy my son went to school with that past away in March . His name was John and although I didn't know him personally I couldn't help but feel like I did. John was pretty popular with like 1500 friends and yet he must of felt so alone. On his page was lots of photos of him drinking and pictures of full refrigerators stocked only with beer numerous photos of him swigging down a cold one and photos of partys since past. On his older posts there was countless storys of John crawling around on the grass looking for his keys postings of day afters asking john if he was missing something like his phone and teens laughing about the other night fast forward to present posts hundreds of messages from friends saying how much they miss him and asking him to watch over them down here. Talks about memorial services held in his name and amazement of the turnout. A large photo of someones arm with a fresh new tattoo of shamrocks and the words JOHN G. I can't help but think why did this have to be I could picture my own son in his place and it makes me shutter and thank God that it is not him yet and that my son still has a chance and then I feel guilty because i think of John 's parents and i ask myself why have I been lucky so far that my son has been spared on close calls and theirs was not? I do not have the answer to that and I hope I am never in John's parents shoes. My heart fills with sorrow for them and I cry tears for all these kids that wil never get the chance to grow up and have a life because they think it is cool to party excessively to the point of death at 18 so in closing I would like to say that i have talked to some of my son's closest friends and asked them if they would be onboard to letting me know if my son starts to stray because any number of those kids on John G. s facebook could have tried to help him and maybe some did but I would much rather have my son here then facebook memorials.
