no big surprise, it's kitchen time.
listening to Rod Stewart singing standards......his heart stood still.........ah, that's so sweet Rod.
i saw Mr. Stewart in concert.....a last minute gift of two tickets from my boss. sam & i went.....when a cluster of ladies stood up to swoon & sing along, sam slunk down in his seat.....looked miserably at me and said don't you dare do that.....still makes me laugh!
it was all part of kicking off his teen years........the concert was very good!
i'm making ground beef for tacos....it's simmering in the spices. yes, it smells good!
cut up the celery for snacks, cleaned out more of the frig stuff, said a final good bye to the asian soup i made. i ate it daily for as long as i could bear and then ate it a few days more after that. soup is wonderfully tasty and so easy at breakfast time when i'm at my wonkiest. today i had raisin bran......haven't had that in forever. with a slice of multi grain toast.....
actual breakfast food at breakfast. what a concept! planning to make chicken enchiladas in white cheese sauce tomorrow if at all possible. the chicken is defrosting in the frig.......Rod is telling me that woman needs man.........it's still the same old story, a fight for love and glory......a case of do or die.....................as time goes by. still trying to figure out the lady singing with him......ohhhh, it's queen latifah. huh........she's got a really smooth voice.
bruce says he coming today to tackle the jungle....after all this rain it looks really shaggy, yet so incredibly healthy and green!
took a break to put the meat away.....chop up romaine lettuce and shred some cheese. now at dinner time i'll be rested again enough to eat. just add warmed corn taco shells......warm the meat and top it off with the good stuff.
now Rod is saying he only has eyes for me........oh Rod you silly man! you're not my type, but i do like your rock classics.....!
this swollen gland thing grows OLDDDDDD. hello cfs/me.......you've had a long visit, now please go bye bye. for a little while, gimme a break. the answer is still no.......stubborn disease!
if i could i would like to tackle any of the following:
tidy/organize the store room upstairs, box things up.
move the living room furniture. maybe.....still thinking that over. since bruce is coming by today if i time it right he could move the couch.....but i'll probably be fast asleep again by then.
tape off the glass in the curio cabinet to ready for painting. gonna paint it white. stay classic.
plant the new flower bulbs i picked up at the estate sale. but first i have to weed the 4 x 6 patch of soil......bummer dude. i'm thinking the lady ferns will look nice against the house......there are 7 holly bushes against the white picket fence....then in the corner i tried a very delicate iris that looked too tiny there......moved the irises to another bed......so that will become fernland. now to decide where to put the lily of the valley.
had to get up to switch to miss streisand ....cd titled Barbra, Back to Broadway. but yes Rod I believe it when you tell me "our love is here to stay." i started singing that song years ago and i just love it. Ella Fitzgerald sings it so well.........a real woman of song!
my daughter HATES barbra's voice.......i tend to think that she just doesn't care for the more classic style of singing. sara sings with a more modern spin, one so well known the last 15 - 20 years. how much does that date my preferences? i love the way she sings too......
by she i mean sara and miss streisand. so tired. should take a shower........do a load of whites. will i? my life is predictable. very predictable. but it's ok, i don't have the stamina to take on the things i wanna do........still have that table waiting to be sanded to ready it for paint in the garage........would like to switch out the living room rugs.......
i saw a karastan rug at the estate sale, it was marked at $175......so with the 50% off it was still too expensive for me. i showed it to sara, she didn't appreciate it much. it was primarily cranberry red......2.5" by 6". so perfect for the living room........still can't get that wish i had it outta my brain, but it will pass in a day or two. can't spend much, gotta save save save. it was very purty....
the rug that's there is the color of a vanilla ice cream cone from Dairy Queen.....what my Mom used to call winter white. it looks very nice too, hides zero sin......but if you can't have light colored things at this stage in life when can you?
in a minute i'll water the new sunflower seeds waiting to grow in the soil. that is something i can do. there are yellow lillies i need to move.......if i ask bruce will he kill me? if he takes them out, where do i want them planted? will i remember 70% of the things i wish to do.......doubtful. highly doubtful. but i'm still glad for the mentality to think right now.
this is a journal about nothing really.....other than to say i was here, i'm alive. i'm sad about ds. they don't care about the format and what it has meant to all of us........and all of us who have all but completely given up or really stopped coming here.
i had this false sense of safety about this site, that i'd be making friends here for many moons to come.......new friends. i know i don't go to the boards anymore, well so rarely that i feel a lot of guilt......and the new friend or two i accepted never write ......i think they are too sick to take this site on the way it is. time to stop typing now.
i need to pay a bill and make a phone call........things i obviously would prefer to put off. have a gooooood day, Jesus loves us this i know........for his father tells me so!

Serce your journals are so down to earth and loving. I have trouble finding things to talk about. but I am learning to grow in that area. I think listening to your thoughts here has always lifted my spirits
made me smile. Change for me is not an easy thing to do or accept, but change is always constant.
I am still out here,at ds,waving smiling hugging and listening. I know you are too.♥ and greenies
I fully agree with you on the changes DS has made. Even boycotted it for a while & came close to just dropping out. Not as friendly of a site these days - that is for sure!
Ruthie, I appreciate the energy and effort you put into journaling regularly. It makes me think of the way things used to be on DS - and of course I love hearing about your life. It makes me feel like I'm sitting beside you in Sparrow Cottage listening to Rod and eating tacos. I can just imagine Sam's embarrassment at the Rod Stewart concert. LOL. Still, it was sweet of him to go with his momma. Love Ella - beautiful voice. Doris Day was very influenced by Ella - and I really like her singing voice as well - I have a 2 cd set of Doris singing some standards and some of her songs from her movies. So relaxing to listen to.
