Nice Walk Today
Today I went for my walk, I did 2.5 miles in less than 75 minutes. I normally walk about 30 minutes a mile, so it's good that I was able to do it faster. I haven't been for a long walk for a while, so it was good to get out there and go for my walk. I don't have my MP3 player with me here, so it was just me and my thoughts. I walked faster than normal despite not having music. I tried singing while I was walking (that's how you know you are exercising at the right pace- being able to talk but not sing) and I wasn't walking as fast as I could. I have been trying to push myself to walk faster, and I think I can do it. I can't wait until I can do a 5k in under 60 minutes. The weather here was beautiful, and it was just nice to go for a long walk. My legs aren't sore or anything too.
My mood today was good... I'm proud of myself for being able to go on such a long walk. I think I could have done a 5k if I tried, but I don't know how far I would have to walk down the highway that runs near my mom's house. I know where the 2.5 mile mark is, but other than that there aren't many blocks or stoplights to measure how far I've gone. I could walk the other direction down the highway, but I wanted to walk to the Hess station instead (going south). It's because I know how far down the highway the Hess station is. I guess I could measure out a 5k for tomorrow if I feel up to it. I've been trying to keep up with my exercise while I've been here, but I haven't been that good about it. I did my strength training today and I made up for the weekend that I didn't do it. I've just been feeling good today.
Other than my walk, I didn't do much today. I slept in again until 10- that was 12 hours of sleep. Then later I took a nap for about an hour and a half. I helped Tracy's dad with a crossword puzzle, and helped Joy around the house a bit. I did the dishes as well today. I didn't cook dinner, we had spaghetti, garlic bread and a salad. I went on the computer for a bit, and helped out Joy with some stuff. I talked with my friend in Portugal online. Sometimes he annoys me, but today wasn't that bad. He's one of those people that annoy me, but I'm bored so I talk to them. I don't have many friends like that... I would go crazy if that was the case. I just like having someone to chat with every now and then. I tried removing him from my friends list on MSN, but he found me on Skype. I use Skype to talk to Geo and Andrea, so I don't want to get off of that. I guess I could block him, but I don't like blocking people, especially people who are there when nobody else is.
Stress today wasn't too bad... I was a bit worried that when I went out for my walk that my mom and Tracy were going to get into another fight, but they did okay. I'm glad, since the last time I went for a walk they got into that big fight where Tracy tried to kick my mom out. It's not like he can, since it's not his house, it's Joy's. Joy loves my mom and wants her to stay. So that's the way it happened. Today, though, nothing happened when I was gone. I wish my mom and Tracy would learn to go for a walk or something when they get mad. I know that when I fight with Geo, I go into the room and he goes for a walk to calm down. When he comes back, I'm usually calmer and I can deal with him in a more peaceful manner.
Food today was good... I'm in range for my calories and all that. I had cottage cheese with pineapple for breakfast, leftover prime rib for lunch, and then spaghetti for dinner. I'm feeling good about my exercise and food choices for today. I can't believe that tomorrow is my last day here. I packed myself some spaghetti for the ride back home. I may pack myself some salad, too, once I see how much is left. I'm going to have some salad tomorrow probably for lunch. I feel bad that I napped while Joy was doing all the work for the salad and spaghetti, but she wouldn't let me help her anyway. She's very stubborn about things like that. I find that to be a good thing, since she's pretty old but she hasn't lost her pride. She does everything she can for herself, and only asks for help when she needs it. I hope I can do the kind of things that she does when I'm in my 80's. I don't think I would be able to do half the things that she does if I made it to her age, but I have to give her credit for not losing her pride and living as much as she can at her age.
