Nice day.

Feeling pretty good today. Just sitting around at the club on the computer, and doing my cleaning. I'm trying not to take it so seriously, or personally, when I see messes right after I clean. I need to remember that doing this is part of my giving back, and getting out of self. A lot of these people have problems. They are actually doing me the favour by giving me the opportunity to do something for others. That's a good thing.
Last night I had a good meeting. It was at the church where the shelter is. I had to laugh because at the meeting we use the regular washroom that the church uses, and Denis, the manager for the shelter was in one of the stalls when I went in. He came out and started to ask me how I got in there. I told him I used my own key. He was really believing it. I played it for a few minutes, but then told him that we at A.A. use that washroom. I'm surprised he didn't know that.
Denis is a good man. He seen when I was all messed up and cuts on my face from a security guard that had smashed my face one night. He knows that I'm going to meetings now, and staying clean. He's one that I can trust to sit and talk to if I need to. He was telling me of places to try and find housing. He said I should try and get out of Toronto. I kind of know this aleready. Another Salvation Army worker that was in the detention center when I was there a long time ago told me the same thing. "Stay away from Toronto." I didn't listen to her, but I can see that it's just far too expensive, and very hard for the average person to make a living.
I also have another friend at the shelter. He's an older guy around 65, but he's very level headed, and I enjoy talking to him. He has a lot of sensible advice, and tries to offer help when he can.
He told me about this temp agency that's close by. He said that he goes there and you can make about $75.00 a day there. Because he's a senior they don't deduct anything. I'm on O.W, but he said other guy's work a day or two and they don't bother about it. So next week I'm going to go down and sign up. I need some cash in my pocket. I only have a dime that I found yesterday.
If I can get $150.00 from the agency a week, and $400 from O.W, and perhaps an extra $100.00 from O.W, for volunteering here that would be about $1,100.00 a month, pluse I will have painting coming up at the end of the month, that could be about $2,000.00 I will have. Do that for a couple of months and I could get myself a really decent place to live. That would be really cool. Get a cat too.
Yup, I'm seeing some light starting to appear. thank God. I was really getting worried that I really fu--ed myself by coming to Toronto. Now it's looking not too bad. Have to stay sober though. Nothing good will ever happen if I drink again. Right now I have no thoughts of that. I don't want to go back to that shit at all. Too much bad stuff.
I changed my sponsor last night too. The other guy only wanted to be a temporary one anyway, so I thought it better to have someone steady. He's been sober awhile and I'm told that he works a good program. So, I'll try that.
I enjoyed the meeting last night a lot. We had this young lady visit from Victoria B.C, and that was pretty cool. I've always wanted to go there and see how it is. she said it was much warmer than here. That would be for me. I don't like these last few winters here. It's very cold, and a lot of snow. I'm not really a winter type person, and it can be very hard getting through. This year was extreamely hard. I felt very depressed when I first got here.
Yesterday I had a great time at the park after I left here. I was feeding the pidgions, and squirrels. I had a great time. I had a huge flock of birds coming all around me. I sat down with them and they were landing on my hand before I could throw the bread. It was really neat. sometimes three would be on my hand and arm eating the bread from my hand. It's so cool when nature can allow us these kind of simple pleasures. When I was leaving I saved the muffins for the squirrels. I gave everyone that I seen a piece of muffin. They are so cool.
Anyway, things seem to be going well, and I feel pretty good. Still a bit boring, but that will soon change, I'm sure. Thank you so much, Lord. Thank you.
