Niagara Falls

Woke up at midnight to pee. That's all I wanted to do.  I go to the guest bathroom (since my master is now waiting for the flooring to come in to be done. It's all prepped redone and ready, but needs the final (laminate and tile)

On my way through the kitchen I become concerned as it sounds like a torential downpour.  But it gets LOUDER. I walk in to Niagara Falls in my bathroom. I noticed earlier when I went in that the toilet was still running from hours before. So I jiggled the handle, went and again flushed. (This was also several hours maybe 9:45 )  Now when I looked, the tank  was what was overflowing..... but the actual bowl did not refill. )  I tried turning the knob beside it to turn it off... did not seem to work, so I shut off the water to the house.

Have to try to get some sleep  (up in 3 hrs for work) Have to try to text my BIL and call a neighbor who is handy to come look at the damn thing after I am home.  Feeling like I am headed to a 3rd world country....no water, plumbing, nobody else there either.... this is a far cry from my island getaway...   :(

wow wonder what happened to the toilet....that the tank did not shut off with the float valve if it even has one....my toilet doesnt have the traditional float valve in it and it is new toilet........

I am sorry you have no plumbing now....hope there is no damages to the floor....is there water down in basement or is this on second floor and the water flowed thru ceiling below?

I am hoping not too. I stopped it all up with 85 towels.
I live in a manufactured home (2005) so no basement.

So sorry. When it rains it pours!!!!Home maintenance is never fun or cheap!! If I had more strength and energy and confidence I'd love to learn to be able to do a lot of the work myself!! I have gutters falling off the side of my house and I have been on a waiting list to get the work done. The company said they were seen as nonessential when businesses closed and now are just getting back on track. We've had a lot of heavy rain here and whenever it rains I actually get a small waterfall that goes down the side of my house. This has caused major wood rot to wouldn't you know it a one-of-a-kind window which needs to be replaced. I'm sending positive energy, hugs and best wishes

On mine there is a chain that connects the handle to the rubber drain plug. When you push the handle down, it lifts the drain plug to allow the water in the tank to flush the toilet. It begins filling immediately and as pressure builds from the water in the tank, the drain plug goes down to plug the hole as the toilet continues to run water until the tank is filled.

Well in mine, I had too much slack in the chain so a few of the links went in the drain hole and the rubber plug couldn't get a good seal so it ran continuously....until my well went dry LOL!

When I saw the problem, I shortened the length of the chain so there wouldn't be so much slack. Problem solved :)

God Bless

Thanks. BIL was here and fixed it . Is coming back in a few days with another piece that should also be replaced. Was outside and chatting with the neighbors for a bit too. Things are looking up a smidge. So sorry about your window. :(
