New update
Ok, today I got a call from the gender specialist the VA has assigned me to - Dr. Lisa Israel. Sounds like she might be ok, she says she is a gender specialist and has been treating other veterans, so I'm going to go see her in early September and decide then if this is going to work or not. Pretty sure she is new on the staff of the local VA hospital/clinic. Hey, she's at least READING my file - which is more than I can say about any of the OTHER doctors at the VA have bothered to do. Most of them confess they didn't read anything in my files at all.... which leaves me wondering just HOW are they planning to help me, if they have no clue what's going on?
In other news, I've been averaging one job interview a week for about 2 months now - still no job.
I've got my yurt started, but between trying to make and assemble it alone, and the weather not cooperating - soaking rains every time I get a chance to drive out to work on it - it has been slow going. Still, I have made progress, and have hopes of being moved completely into it by the end of August - despite everything else going on as well.
For some reason, this has been one of my busiest months in a long time - costing me a lot in gas for my truck, and bringing in zero money in return. However, once I get moved out into the yurt, no more house rent, no more electricity bill, propane bill, water bill, garbage bill, sewer bill, or most other bills people have. That means I won't be spending money I don't have on bills. Glad I have a wood stove and a solar power generator, solar lights, and lots of battery-powered options as backups.
I'm actually looking forward to living in my yurt in the woods. Composting camp toilet, camp shower(solar heated), a bread oven, a wood-fired pottery kiln,... Yeah. Smaller space, less clutter and stuff I haven't used in years will be gone. Cell phone gets internet, can hook it into my laptop to use the laptop online, and I have rechargers to use in my truck, or the solar generator for all my tech gear. All for less than I paid in 2 months' rent and bills.
Now, if I can land a decent job, I can start saving up money to buy a plot of land of my own, then move the yurt onto that while I save up to build something else.
