New to Site, have TBI
Hello everybody. I am new to this site and was just hoping for some conversation. I am a 51 year old male with TBI. Mine is known as DAI. Diffuse axonal injury. It is the shearing of the brain. I have played sports very aggressively up until I was 43 and suffered my last concussion. I was never the same. I have to admit it is my own fault. I have suffered over 30 concussions and have been knocked out four times. Needless to say I was quite the daredevil on top of it. Sports was not my only vice but an adrenalaine rush was. After four long years they have finally come to this conclusion. I can no longer work and only have a $135.00 VA benefit a month. I am still waiting on a response from SSI for disability which is taking forever. I have memory problems, confusion, and a boat load of other problems. On top of that I have an extreme case of Fibromyalgia and I have diabetes. At least my family has not kicked me to the curb yet. My outgoing personality has ceased to exist. To many people around me causes anxiety. I can no longer drive so my freedom is very limited. I feel like I live in a small box. I have passed out 8 times in the last year and a half breaking three ribs and also smacking my head on a table at a restaraunt that required 9 staples. Probably another concussion I did not count. Anyway if anybody would like to chat please let me know. I am trying to find people with similiar problems.
