New to CVID and digestion struggles
I was diagnosed with CVID two weeks ago. I've been waiting for an answer since November of last year when I noticed my IgA was very low as a part of a celiac screening I requested. I do not have Celiac Disease, and I am still uncertain why I have so many digestion issues. I do have Hoshimotos Thyroiditis and excema. I have several allergies. I am allergic to 4 antibiotics, Nickle, and an antimicrobial in cosmetics. I have taken it upon myself to learn everything I can to make the most informed decisions for treatment and lifestyle choices. I began a vegetarian diet a few months ago to see if that would help with my digestion and boy did it help. I do get flare ups of bloating, intense abdominal pain, and foul smelling gas the week before my period each month. The diarrhea has subsided since my dietary changes thankfully. I had diarrhea and bloating for a few months more days than not a few months ago.
I have been scheduled to meet a nurse in a month to learn how to do my weekly home subq Hizentra transfusions. I also just received the phone call today that I am getting my med pump mailed to me this week. It's becoming more and more real. I am thankful my mom is going with me to my subq appointment, because I am so uncertain what side effects I may or may not have. I have very low IgA levels 14-15. I have read it is more common to have allergic reactions to subq or IVIG with low or absent IgA levels. I also have very low IgG levels at about 345-365 I am hesitant to begin treatment because it is all so unknown. I don't believe it will help with my main issue: my digestion upsets either. I am not sure how to advocate for more help with it. I asked my allergist if CVID could be related to my bloating and diarrhea and she said it was unlikely, however I have read that digestion disorders are commonly coupled with CVID.
I am open to alternative treatment I began taking PhytoScience Double Stem Cell this week in hopes I can repair my damanaged DNA, however I know it's a shoot in the dark. I am also taking daily vitamins: multi, b complex, C, probiotic, and glucosamin, cranberry pill. My most recent issues have been multiple UTI's and respiratory and sinus infections.
I have heard recently about an autoimmune paleo diet, however I haven't looked into it. I am also looking into seeing a speciality dietician.
There is defiantly a learning curve occuring here, but I know I will figure out what works best for my body.
