New Anti-LGBT Legislation in NC,... where I live.
Ok, so,... The Governor of NC, Pat McCrory(not sure on the spelling) did a stupid, evil, hateful thing - just in time for EASTER HOLIDAY TRAVEL.
He SIGNED into LAW legislation that was introduced, discussed, voted on, passed, and signed in less than 36 hours. It REMOVES any and all protections against discrimination for the LGBT, veterans, elderly, etc. within the STATE of NC. It is Illegal now for a transgender person to use any public restroom that does not match the gender that was recorded on their birth certificate at the time of birth. It is illegal for any local governmental body to try to protect LGBT, veterans, elderly, etc. from discrimination... of ANY sort.
I can be LEGALLY denied a job, assistance, use of facilities, medical aid, etc., because I am transgender.
I can be arrested for using the restroom it looks like I belong in, and charged with committing a CRIME.
Yet, if I go into the restroom I am REQUIRED BY LAW to use, I will get arrested and charged with committing a CRIME - because I neither look nor sound like I belong in that gender's restroom.
Guess that means I get to pee and poop in the hallways. Oh, wait, they'll arrest me and charge me with SEVERAL CRIMES if I do that,...
Maybe I should apply for total disability, since I am LEGALLY DISABLED from using PUBLIC FACILITIES, like at WORK. Oh, wait - the new law also made it LEGAL to discriminate against the DISABLED... so I guess that won't help either.
Looks like I get to carry a port-a-potty around and use it where I need to. When it gets full, maybe I should take it to the Governor's house and dump it on his front steps. Maybe if enough of us do this, he'll begin to get a fucking clue!
