need to practice 'patience' and 'discipline'

I am here alone, in the living room. Blue absconded under the bed. As we get to know

each other - he seems less and less like he wants to be a pet. He likes to be serviced

but when I don't pay attention to him - he wails and wails. I think things will settle down though.

He is a cat afterall. Master of indifference.

And it's ok - he has some nice sides to him. He has never once tried to nip me or scratch. He controls

his claws for only the scratching post and his toy.

Anyways I noticed he does something that I have been doing. When he gets bored and wails a lot.
If I can't get to him because I am doing something else - he goes into the kitchen and eats. :)

Sounds similiar to me eh? It just is funny. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree..

Anyways, so I am sitting here now - after making a run to the Costco and picked up an Rx.

The line was not so long, thankfully and I got home alright - and sanitized the stuffing out of everything.

I am here now in my apartment - and I am bored... but I remembered to try and practice patience- like I did

the other day. It gives me something to focus on - "discipline" comes to mind "a discipline" - to focus on

and try keep doing things that are positive. It's weird how that is, I guess I feel I should be able to organize my time..

'whip up' a plan of entertainment or activity - and feel dejected 'and totally different' when I can't - but realizing there's

more to that. Just trying to practice patience and discipline. Most of us can't live life on a whim....and we do have to practice some sense of self control...for wise, prudent choices. Guess that's where I am at right now.

I may go for a walk and just enjoy the outside. Let off the steam of solitude. Trying to break it down into bite sized chunks.

Yup, Blue sounds more than a little like you. The healing of one will be the healing of you both.

Hope healing happens here.

For what it's worth
Tuna breath drives every cat I know catty, even when it comes from a human that smells like dog.

If I didn't have him - I would believe you but the Cat Lady who organized the adoption said - DON'T FEED MALE CATS TOO MUCH FISH. Apparently it messes with their urinary track.
But I thought perhaps feeding him his vitamins (a salmon flavored one) wouldn't be too bad. He turns his nose up at it.
I had tuna the other day - Next time I will try hug him after. :-)

I certainly wouldn't want to argue anything with A Cat Lady, but tuna breath comes from **you** eating the fish then blowing under the bed to bait him out. I use the trick to lure feral cats out of barns, etc. I doesn't know but I does believe cats are extremely smell sensitive. If I wanted a cat to love me, I might even try a little tuna juice behind my ears.

Not that I especially want cats to love me. Wolf is definitely my Earth Spirit. The tuna breath trick works on dogs, too. It doesn't have to be tuna. That's merely a packaging convenience.

Generally its better for a cats health/weight not to leave food out for them 24/7, but to set feeding times twice a day. He doesn't need to be grazing all day to comfort himself....thats not healthy and will contribute to health and weight issues.

I'm curious by what you mean by "want to be a pet"? What do you think a cat pet should do or not do?

Buy some little cat treats and lure him out with them. When he comes out give him lovins, and he will soon learn that you are ok and he won't be so timid. Sometimes ignoring them works too. All the cats I have ever had would graze during the day if I left food out for them and they never over ate. Except for my cat Jasmine that I have now. She is always hungry and would get so fat if I didn't just feed her 2 times a day. Never had a cat like her. She just loves food. The vet said it's just the way she is and it's nothing to worry about. You are right about having patience.
