My Therapy

Even though I am still on oxygen I walked 240 feet without sitting today and I was not that out of breath.  My goal is 500 feet by Feb 10, 2010.  Peggy my therapist said I did well today in spite of my very depressing mood.

Way to go, Linda! I was very much like you are at present and I, too, set little goals for myself. At first I was not able to walk a quarter of a block, but by doing exactly as you are doing, I found I could walk further and further and oh, what a day it was when I could walk to a nearby park! It takes time and determination and if you allow yourself those two things, why, I think you\'ll do wonderfully well. The other thing I found is by getting myself physically active it helped my depression, too.

So, you go, girl! Give yourself a big pat on the back because you certainly deserve it!

That is really an accomplishment. Did I read that you are having home therapy? Your walk today is 3/4 + the length of a football field and that is great.
When you get up to 500 ft, the didtance will be 1 times the length of a football field. Don\'t know if you are a sports fan but that is a familiar distance marker. it also sounds a longer distance and in this game we learn to use all of the \"tricks of the trade.\" LOL

Please try to look on the bright side when you can get around to it. It is a lot easier to accomplish our goals and besides have you noticed that depression leads to crying and that is suddenly very hard to do without losing your breath. That was a biggy for me because I was rather stoic before the diagnosis.
Just push and you will be amazed that your life isn\'t quiet over yet.
Take care and just breathe that good old 02. ( I use it also)
Hugs, Anna

Congrats Linda !! That is a huge accomplishment, you go girl and keep on going.
You will kick this depression yet ! Sounds like you have a lot of determination.
Sometimes we are stronger than we think, the tears will come and go, yes it can be hard to breathe when crying but, at times we need our own salt water bath for a good cleansing. The hard times always signify growth and wisdom.
