My story so far...

Last month April 4th 2015 woke up with right knee pain...went to urgent care and was MIS-diagnosed with a sprain, wrapped up in elastic bandage and sent on my way.  Week later could not even BEND knee and was in excrutiating pain!  I was going to try to drive myself but couldn't even bend my leg to get in car...but finally squashed leg in but couldn't manipulate my clutch, brake and gas pedals...so frustrated me...called my son to bring me to E.R. Was diagnosed with a DVT and put on XARELTO.  Week later ended up back in E.R. leg still hurting and wouldn't bend and they did ultrasound and the clot had not broke off so sent me back home.  Week later had to call 911 on myself...couldn't BREATHE!!!  Got ambulanced to E.R. diagnosed with PE.  The DVT in right knee had indeed broken off and lodged in my lung.  I was hospitalized for almost a week and had numerous blood tests, scans, another ultrasound in BOTH LEGS and lungs...found that XARELTO had failed me.  They say 99% of people who take it have no problems but of the 1% who DO....most of them, statistics show have some kind of CANCER in their bodies.  So about 10 vials of my blood have been sent to MAYO CLINIC, and I've been scheduled for a colonoscopy and upper Gi Endoscopy at the same time....all looking for CANCER...also found a "nodule" on my right lung that COULD be "cancerous" need to re-scan it in 3 months and if it has grown then most likely cancerous....so I'm trying to DEAL with all this news at one time.  I've been put on COUMADIN and LOVENOX SHOTS.  We've taken a break from the shots this week.  We'll see how that goes.  My blood has been TOO thin this last week last check was 4.2 (whatever THAT means).  Been SOOO short of breath and weak and dizzy.  Doctor doesn't seem to care but I found a site on the internet that says you will feel that way for at least 3 months or even longer and that some of those days may feel even WORSE than when first diagnosed with the PE so I guess that is why my doctor wasn't concerned but I feel like he or his nurse could have returned my call and re-assured me that this is NORMAL...but whatever, I found out my information on the internet myself and found this support group of all you lovely people by myself too.  Looks like a long hard road ahead....so glad I found this group!
