My story
Hi my name is Mack and I'm just gonna post a little bit of my story surrounding my Eating Disorder. Starting from the age of 11 I started restrictions my eating. I realized that I couldn't dance properly after eating a meal, so on days that I had dance I would skip food that day. When I was in grade 7 and 8, I was scared of eating in front of people, so I would throw out my lunches and tell everyone I ate breakfast and dinner everyday to avoid me questioned. (This was a lie, I rarely ate even 1 meal in a day). By the age of 14 I started to eat more and was gaining weight, however this quickly went down hill when I was diagnosed with a chronic stomach illness that made it difficult to eat. I lost a significant amount of weight in a short period of time, and this triggered my fear of gaining weight again. By 15 I became very Ill and was admitted into an eating disorder inpatient program. I was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and this is where treatment began. I had to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks everyday and it was difficult but I made it through. Once I was medically stable I started an outpatient treatment program. It was very strict, but it did really help me and I began recovery..at first not willingly, but after months of treatment I began to want to recover myself as well. I went 4 months doing really well, I maintained a healthy weight, and my fear of food was almost non-existent. I felt probably the happiest I had been in a while. This past November tho the thoughts and fears returned. Over those 4 months the ED voices were only whispers, but once November hit they were loud and very disruptive in my daily life. It is now February and I am still struggling. However I have agreed to restart outpatient treatment. I want to recover to live a happy healthy life, but at this moment I am not able to do it alone. This is parts of my story up until now. I hope 1 day I will be able to say that I have overcome my disorder
