My son's service

We interned my son on Friday. The day was dreary, windy, and grey. My son died on November 8, 2014. It was the most devastating thing that has ever happened to me. I didn't know what to do with his ashes, but I wanted a place where I could go speak to him in silence whenever I chose. The service was beautiful. I felt like the decision was a good one. I miss my son everyday, and I am lost without him. He was a beautiful person. Everyone said the service would help with closure, but there really isn't closure when you lose a child, there is just gradual acceptance of the most devastating loss that one could endure. I got married again in December just after my son passed. I had been dating a man a year, and he really wanted to be with me and see me through this tragedy. His support has been a blessing. He and his adult children were at the service. His daughter just had a miscarriage and her dog ran away, so overall it was a sad service. My sister in law from my first marriage flew out from Colorado to attend. She and my son were close, and we are also still so close. What can I say, It's going on 5 months after my son didn't wake up and I'm coping, but everyday I constantly think of how much I love him and want him back,
Chris

I\'m glad you found the energy to write so soon. I like a cloudy day for such a service, at least it seemed fitting when we had my son\'s memorial service. I am glad you felt your son\'s service was beautiful.

It\'s so true when you said there really isn\'t closure when you lose a child just gradual acceptance.
I\'m sorry that the service was a bit melancholy due to the other sad events but it\'s good that you had the love and support of your family members there. I think that\'s so important and comforting on this difficult journey.
I hope that the rest of your week brings you some gentle peace.
Tight hugs,
Diane

I have realized the true loss of a child. As a mother, I gave birth to him, showed him how to love, wiped his tears when he was sad, hugged him when he was happy, I watched him get his black belt, I was there with him through his sadness and pain. He was my child and I will always be his mother. I shake when I think of a world without him, but my only hope is that I will see him again. My love goes out to all of you who have experienced the same pain.

How did I ever miss this Chris. You will absolutely always be his mother. Thank you for sharing a bit of him with us.
I don\'t like the word closure at all. I really don\'t even know what it means. We will never feel okay with the fact that we have lost our precious children.
I hope you were able to get through Mothers Day with some peace, knowing that you were the best of moms. Life does become gentler. I now can laugh and feel real joy, but as you read in my journal yesterday, I still have sad times, and I am sure I always will. The upside is that I save money on artificial tears! I have enough real ones to do the job.
Wishing you love and peace.
Tight hugs, Marlene
