My life as I know it
It suprises me how peacefully I sleep. From the very first night that I came home without Jeff and crawled into our bed. I really didn't think that could be possible. But, I have a confession to make. I put all of his pillows stacked length wise on his side of the bed and I keep to my own side. Every night as I turn out my reading lamp, I tell Jeff goodnight and I love him and I'll see him in my dreams. Crazy, huh? but it works. I sleep.
My day started this morning at 10am sitting in a cold grade school gym as the sponsor of my youngest son Hunter's new formed band. It was cold!! Like 52 degrees on the stage where they practiced. I can not imagine playing drums and guitars for 4 hours with your hands being that cold! But they did. I took my computer and my Nook and kept busy. The time flies by and they are really getting good. I think its funny that they love to play the songs I loved in the 80's. Lots of KISS, Motley Crue, Def Lepard, etc. LOL Makes it easier to sit and listen to. :)
When I got home my plan was to take a nap while the boys left for the high school auditorium for play rehearsal. Again, another 80's favorite! GREASE!!! Should be a fun time. Hunter is Kinicki and Connor is the Scorpion Leader, as well as lights and sound. I never got around to it. Cleaning, laundry, making dinner. Those things that make up my life, no matter who is or isn't here anymore. Funny how somethings must go on. Isn't it?
Tonight a friend of mine sent me a message about a classmate. Joel, 48, began having migranes and went to his doctor who gave him some pain meds. Yesterday morning, Joel woke up and his left side of his body was not working right. He phoned his parents and EMS. He was taken to a local hospital's ER where he was diagnosed with a brain bleeder. They transported him to another bigger hospital's ER about an hour away. There he sat in ER without an attending physician, for 3 hours. His friend went and told a nurse that he seemed to deteriorating. 2 hours later they did a MRI and learned he had a stroke. At 11pm last night he was transfered to another hospital for neurological surgery. But they didn't get to him in time and he was brain dead. Today at 2:27pm, they turned off life support on Joel. His family was still waiting for organs to be harvested. Joel was an amazing young man in HS. Well liked, and everyone's friend. He was almost 7ft tall! and very nice looking especially as he aged. It is hard to believe that he is gone too.
My life as I know it.......with each morning, I have learned that I can never guess what will come that day. All I can do is get out of bed each morning, live my life for my boys and myself. Give thanks for all of the experiences we get to have and hope that I am raising my boys to be awesome men. And at night time, say goodnight to Jeff and ask him to watch over us. Tell him I love him and I will see him when God calls me home to be with him. That is my life as I know it.
