My life

My dad is dying of bladder cancer. He is still in the early stages. He can't take any anti-depressants or pain killers because he drinks all day. Cancels all his dr appts and I don't even know if hospice takes people who abuse substances. He drinks 6-9 14 oz beers a day. And falls down and expects me and my mom to pick him up. You would think falling down would be embarrassing and he would cut back. Nope. I helped pick him up w my mom one time. Like dead weight. This time my mom called ER to pick him up and take him to the hospital. Goes to the hospital a few times a month. I told my mom, go hide his car keys and only give him two beers a day. She didn't say anything to me and hung up on me. Apparently death reminds her that some day she too will die. And the cat is dying w a huge tumor in his leg too. My mom needs to put him to sleep because he is in pain and can barely walk but she delays and makes excuses why he is still functional. My mom needs to stop feeling sad for my dad and enabling his drinking. It's one thing if the drinking only affected him but it affects us because we have to keep picking him off the floor and going to ER. I'm not going to keep going to ER. I'll just wait for him to be released. Told my mom she needs to set limits and that she doesn't need to do it all and that she can still do things and be happy because she is not dead yet. Lucky for me my parents suffer from depression and just withdraw. Refuse to do anything. Apparently I have to wait for my dad to become incompetent so my so called brother who is completely removed and Power of Attorney for him can make some logical decisions. My brother said to me the other day, oh dad got a pace maker, I didn't know that. Maybe because you never call your freakin parents. Out of sight, out of mind. Just move to another state and then you don't have to deal w anything. My mom and I don't know what to do. Especially w my father who refuses everything.
