My husband sneaks vodka

I have had a while to calm down now, but when I happened on him this afternoon (he had left the door to the garage ajar, and was hurriedly locking his bottle back into the pannier of his motorcycle on hearing me) I freaked at him, screaming "WHY?!" over and over.
This was just the latest of very many incidents, and the hardest part is his lying. I feel like a parent dealing with a kid all the time, and it's not fair he puts me in this position...
I am very aware of how much he drinks since his eyes are blurry, his speech is slurry...he falls asleep sitting up...but then he claims he had "just a beer".
He knows my dad was an alcoholic, and it was a painful upbringing, so I guess he thinks he's helping by not drinking in front of me. But the thing is, I like to have a drink, and I want to have a nice drink together before supper, and maybe open a bottle of wine. But by then, he's wasted.
