My first day trip alone

Last saturday, I finally done something that I had not done before. I went on my first day trip alone. I always felt that to go somewhere, I had to take someone with me. But after all that I have been going through in the past six months. I felt that I really needed to get away alone, and deserved it. So I went to a lake that was some distance from my home. One of my guy friends had suggested it, he said it is a very quiet and peaceful place. So I went, he was right, it was the idea place for me to go alone for the first time. There was a misty rain for awhile, then it cleared up, it was beautifully peaceful. I got to see my first heron, toke pictures while I was there. I spent the whole afternoon there, and am planning on going back.
Right before I left my daughter called me, to tell me that her knee had given out, and that she had fallen, while she was carrying her 4 month old son. She was home alone and no one could come to help her. I thought to myself, of all the times I pick to go on a longer distance trip, then this happens. But, after I calmed myself down, I told myself, that I still deserved to get away alone. That things like my daughter falling would and could happen whether I was there or not.

Hi,
Glad you got away. I don\'t think I could go alone. I wish I had the strengh. Sound like a very nice place I love to sit by water and just watch the birds etc. And yes will go on and thing will happen but I know my leader of my widow support says you have to take care of your self.

I\'m glad that you made the decision to do something for yourself. I am like you. I always thought that I couldn\'t go on a trip alone, but I took a day trip to the mountains not long ago by myself. At first I was anxious about it, but when I realized everything was going to be okay, I really enjoyed it. (Everything except missing my husband, that is.) I might should have picked somewhere else to travel to because the mountains were always where Larry and I would go on vacation...especially in the fall. I was glad I went though because that was one obstacle approached that now I know I am able to do.

I\'m sorry to hear about your daughter falling. You shouldn\'t feel guilty about not being there because like you said, that could have happened whether you were there or not. I know you probably feel a little bad about not being there for her, but I\'m sure she understands. Take care of yourself.

Good for you. It all builds strength and self-confidence and I\'m glad you went through with it, even with the last minute call from your daughter. It matters to enjoy the beauty of this world.

I bet it felt good to make that step...and it sounds like it was well worth it. I had to go to Aruba 3 months after my husband passed away because we had already bought our tickets and had our time share there. I flew down alone with an empty seat next to me and I spent the first week alone and my daughter s joined me the second week...but I made it and I was proud of myself. Now every time I mention to my daughter that I might do something for the day ...she always says \"Do you want to go alone\" sometimes I think now that we are alone that it is good to do this and put our thoughts in perspective..hugs Ellen
