My escape weekend

I had a great time in the city and amazingly enjoyed myself all by myself. I don't usually do things like that alone, but I kept myself busy, had plans laid out and actually had fun.
I started out Saturday by going to our local farmer's market with my sister before I left then I left directly from there and went to the city where I work; an hour away. I went to the market there and had lunch. Then I did some shopping at a thrift store and drove around the city a bit. I wanted to go biking but it was so terribly windy I didn't. THe bike trail is along the waterfront and it was the windiest place in town. I hate biking in strong wind especially since my bike is not working well and I couldn't get it fixed before I left. To escape the wind I went into the downtown and parked the car and just walked around. There was a photography show at the Art Guild so I went there for a while - really inspiring since I just ordered a new camera last week and plan to do some serious photography the summer. From there I walked around and checked out a used bookstore I love and listened to the street musicians - gotta love the saxaphone!
Then I decided it was time to checkinto my room which was beautfiul. Queen size bed to myself, rainfall shower... it was so nice I spent a couple hours just laying around relaxing. In the evening I took myself out to a movie - I saw Date Night which was quite good. Then I went to a favorite pub/restaurant for dinner and a glass of wine. Well that's when the evening got interesting. A man from out of province was there alone too and asked if he could join me - I was sitting alone eating at the bar because there were no tables so I said sure... never turn down someone to talk to. He was very friendly and polite and we had alot in common. We discussed all kinds of things and never ran short of conversation... I actually had some difficulty eating because I couldn't stop talking lol. This was about 9 pm and the live music was to start at 10 - we had both come to this particular place to hear the music so we sat at the bar together and had a drink while we waited for the music. It turned out to be just so-so and he had a couple other places in mind where he knew there was music so he asked if I wanted to join him... It was just a matter of walking a few blocks in one direction or another so I thought 'why not' its not like I''m getting into a car with a complete stranger, the city is busy and lots of people around on Saturday night so I went. He was a perfect gentleman, never did anything more than talk to me and buy me a glass of wine. We went to two other bars... the music was bad at the first one so we moved on to the next. There the music was good but the service was lousy. Anyway, we had a nice evening... he did ask for my number which I gave him but I highly doubt I'll ever hear from him... and that is just fine. It was nice to have someone to hang out with, a good conversationalist and a gentleman. I hadn't expected that and had planned to just kick back in my room and read all night.
Sunday I was up way too early but had a nice breakfast then hit the road again by 10:30. I went for  a walk at the waterfront in the city, then downtown for another walk around then went driving and left the city. I was so tired from not getting enough sleep so I was home by 3 pm and went straight to bed for almost 3 hrs. All in all it was a great get-away and I'd do it again someday. Not the same place or even the same city but now that I've done it by myself once I won't be so nervous to do it again another time and another place. I just might find I enjoy doing things with myself.
