My day finally came!
Surgery went well. It did take much longer than expected due to old scar tissue from previous surgery. She said she made a channel in my internal fat to lay my intestines in (Weird, I know!) and of course cleaned up all the scar tissue.... My temp tried to climb a few times, once getting too 101, but all I had to do was walk walk walk and breath deep a lot.... then it would come back down. Getting the approval to have water and ice was like Christmas morning! LOL! I walked every chance I got... and became known as the hall walker at the hosp :) In fact, when surgeon came to find me this AM... I was walkin the halls and he (my surgeons partner is who released me, Dr. McCall) had to hunt me down! I got home on the 26th after a 2 night stay, at 11am... drinking is super easy! Had a protein drink, syntrax fuzzy navel mixed with ice and a bit of Mio. Plus just had my 1st soft food per docs instructions to move to stage 2, a sf pudding and i mixed some unflavored protein pdr in it. So I am up to 28 gms my first day and I didn't get home till 11 :) As for liquids, when I finish the one I'm on now, I'll be at 39 oz and that does not count what I drank at hosp before I left :) If things continue this smoothly, I hope to be up to the requirements by 1st of the week. My biggest issue has been passing gas! LOL! Just ain't moving like I wish it were! But I'll keep walking and hoping that will help! :) Once I can get the gas to pas... I think the pain I have will be much less!
Having a partner in all of this has proven to be priceless! I had Joy and Linda, both of whom I met here on DS, to text thru out the entire hospital stay and after.... They were my lifeline!! I cannot imagine doing it without them and am so glad they were there for me!!
Joy has already has surgery, she is about 6ish weeks ahead of me.... Linda should have a date before long. I look forward to being there for her when its her turn!!
