My cousin's funeral got me thinking.

My cousin was the same age as me. Her life was very different to mine, she was a very successful psychologist, was never married and had no children. She looked at least 10 years younger than me.

Two weeks ago she and her mom (80), was on their way to a holiday resort, when they were involved in a car accident. My cousin died instantly, but her mom only sustained minor injuries. Last week my aunt buried her only daughter in the grave which was actually kept for her, on top of her late husband. My cousin was buried with her father. This really shook me.

I realised that God definitely has a plan for each one of our lives. There must be a good reason why God decided not to take my aunt, my daughter Colleen or even me. I'm battling to survive every day, and my cousin was so successful! Colleen is so sick and suffering, and my aunt is old with poor health. But we still have some things to accomplish in our lives before it is our turn to go. I am alive for a reason! Maybe I should start making each day count. My cousin's death shook my world, so that I now look at my own life from a very different angle.

My deepest condolences to you in the loss of your cousin.

Unfortunately, it sometimes takes a tragedy close to us to open our eyes to the life we are living. We never know when God will call our name, but we do know he has his plans for us. He placed Colleen in your care because He knew how your love and care would be best for her, and even with all the tribulations, best for you too. Can you even imagine another life without her in it? Can you imagine Colleens life without you in it? Both my wife and I feel that God put us together 32 yrs. ago because He knew I would stick around and take care of her through all the years of her illnesses. Though it\'s difficult to imagine, I sometimes think WE are the special ones as we struggle each day with full time caregiving. Enjoy each day as much as possible, and know that you are special in God\'s eyes.

Hugs, Dan

So sorry about your cousin. The only thing that helps us to heal (from a loss) is time. (((BIG HUG)))
