my compulsive gambling life!

My name is Cathy.  The last time I placed a bet was on April 10th 2011.  I am a mother of 4 children and 2 step-daughters.  I met my husband of 11 years at the casino, so funny huh?  When i met him i wasnt a compulsive gambler.  I use to go with my sister once a week.  I may lose $70 or $80 the most.  Then eventually the dollar amount got larger and the amount of time got more frequent.  I think that is basically true for most compulsive gamblers.  I lost so many times, and after said I am done.  Of course, I never stopped.  I lost so much time from children because I was gambling.  I was constantly late for my children and felt horrible but never changed.  I then added to my addiction sports betting.  On line sports betting that I would have up to $8000 one week for a balance and assured "the booky" i had it.  A lie of course.  By the way I always lied.  I lied where i was.  I lied where the money went.  I lied how I had money.  I lied and lied to everyone.    So both casino and sports betting is what ruled and ruined my life.  I have tried so many times through GA or reading books to stop gambling with no success for long periods of time.  well, it's never to late for me or anyone to stop.  So I have stopped for three weeks now.  And it's tough but it's the right thing to do for obvious reqasons.  I love my children, I am in love with my husband, my best friend, my boss, my golf partner and most of all my rock.  Those reasons I remain gamble free on an hourly basis.  That is how I am doing it.  well weekend has come and i have baseball, running, golfing and a lot of fun with my family.

Great job on staying away for three weeks! It\'s amazing how this addiction causes us to become liars. This time I\'m up to 74 days and it is nice to be able to be open and honest with my husband. I am from CT as well (Hartford area)and we are golfers also. I don\'t know where your town is, actually. Keep up the good work!! It\'s just not worth the stress and horrible feelings about yourself afterwards and the ride home is the worst - knowing the damage that was done. :]
