My Christmas Miracle! (True Story)

Back in august, I came to the realization that winter was coming which meant there would be times when the power would be out. I have lost my power many times in the past and lost food in my refrigerator and had a frigid house, not to mention other problems connected with a temporary loss of power.

I decided to buy a stand-by generator this year. So I ordered it back in august, and it was delivered the week before Christmas.  I am still waiting on the transfer switch which is delayed due to a supply chain problem. I was told it would be about a month. That would give me plenty of time to dig the trench from where the propane tanks will be, to the new generator.

It had been cold and there was 3-4 inches of frost in the ground so it was hard diggin. I dug a few feet the first day and a few feet the following day and my back was more sore then it ever was.  I could barely move.  It even hurt to sit down and I was taking prescription strength advil which didn’t help very much.  I was hurting so much after the second day of digging, I was having thoughts of looking for narcotic pain killers.  If I didn’t get this job done, then the propane company would do it for me and the price they wanted to charge was so high plus there were other aggravations as well which clearly told me, that they didn't really want to do it, at all!...so…..It motivated me to grab my shovel, and do it myself..  I tried one more time the following day but the frost was thicker and the digging was much harder.  By then, my low back was aching so hard from muscle spasms that I was ready to give up. I had reached the end of my rope!

Totally frustrated, I threw my shovel down  and said, “I’m done!  Then I looked up at the sky and said  “It’s your turn!  I don’t know how you are going to do it, but it’s your problem now!  I just can’t do it anymore!!”

I went back in the house and I tried to relax as much as I could for the rest of the day.  The following morning arrived and I saw that there was a big snowstorm coming in the evening. It was now, imperative that I complete my other project and get my snowblower fixed so I had my coffee and went out to my shed to work on it.  My back was still pretty sore and I wasn’t even thinking about the trench. I was more worried about getting snowed in.

I was glad the snow blower was outside. The bright sun  made it easy to see what I was doing. It was a simple job, I was sure. I just needed to tighten the auger belt but the tightening screw hole was stripped so I had to drill it out and tap it for a larger screw. A little bit bigger job then I had planned on.

While I was working, I heard some noise on the lot to the north of me. It had been sold and the new owner was preparing the lot for the arrival of a new mobile home on the site.  The groundwork was all done, new concrete slab was ready for the new home and the well had been drilled and the trench had been dug and partially filled in.

The well guys arrived to do the hookups for the new well, installing the pipe in the well casing and the well pump. From the sound of their voices, It seemed like they had a problem they were dealing with although I couldn’t tell what it was. I was more focused on getting my snowblower in good running condition, for the impending snow storm.

Eventually, the well guys took off for lunch so I took a break and warmed up with a cup of coffee.  I thought the well guys had called it a day when they left but to my surprise, they came back, in the early afternoon.. As they drove onto the new gravel driveway, I clearly noticed they were towing, what looked like, the answer to my prayers!  It was a backhoe!  I looked up at the sky and I said, “Thankyou Jesus!”   I waited about an hour or so and I walked across the field that divided the two properties, and as I got closer, to the well trench, the workers looked up at me with blank faces, wondering why I was there.  I offered to pay them if they would help me out of my predicament. and finish digging my trench with their big machine.... to which they agreed, as soon as they finished what they were doing.

So I thanked them and went back to fixing my snowblower and I got that done.  I went back in my house to grab another coffee when I heard the tracks of their backhoe, going across my lawn.   I went out and showed them where to dig. There were some trees in the way so they had to dig from an angle, which was difficult.  One guy grabbed my spade and was hand digging all the dirt that was loosened by the bucket.  He was working really hard and both of them working together did a really good job!  I was impressed with their fine workmanship!

When they were finished, I took my checkbook out of my pocket and asked them how much.  I was prepared to pay them any amount they wanted and I would have been very happy doing so, for it saved the wear and tear on my back.

So the boss, who was the one doing the driving, shook his head, no, and he replied, “Merry Christmas”

I said “Thankyou, very much and my back thanks you even more!” and we all laughed.   That was the best Christmas present I received this year....in more ways then one!

And that’s my Christmas Miracle!

I would love to hear from others who have had coiincidences in their lives which you believe could have been Divine intervention.  I think that talking about those kind of uplifting memories can give others hope for their own future.

God Bless

I have thought of another one. Same office as before. I was usually there alone and I was alone this day when a woman came in and walked up to my desk. My first thought was that she was going to ask for money. Instead she said "I need help". and started to look for places to hide. She wanted to go in my boss's office but I couldn't let her. I had her sit on the floor behind my desk. And we started to talk. She was being held against her will by her abusive ex. He allowed her to leave his presence to go to the bathroom and that's how she got to me. He had picked her up to "talk" and then wouldn't let her go home. They were just in town to to shop and she escaped from him. She was so scared of him. I convinced her to call the police. And we waited for them there in my office. The police arrived and talked to her and convinced them to let them take her out of there and back to her kids. I I feel she was sent into my office for a reason. Because I have been in a very awful physically abusive relationship.

You saved her life, and because you had been in a similar situation, you were able to identify with her and help her based on your own experiences ! Most people wouldn't want to get involved and would probably just kick her out of the office. What you did .took alot of courage! I believe it happened like you said, because you also had an abusive reationship!

You have a big heart and you are a healer! God Bless you.

well bobbarino yesterday I came home after work and shopping at Walmart grocery and the guy down the street who has a truck that says we buy houses with cash was parked at the street entry to alley where he bought a place to flip a few months ago...I had stopped seeing him by his truck then asking if he had bought the house....

So I pulled off and parked to walk up the back towards house...have a beautiful lady come out of house greeting me....said I am neighbor and wondered how things we going with the house....could I look around inside...? she let me in....so I get the guy come out of living room to extend hand and he said my name is Bob Herrin....I went I know a Bob Herrin...took me a minute....then he said the trailer? I said yeah I am in AA and your Dad did my fifth step with me a number of years ago....his dad is a guru of a trailer park AA fifth step world that only he can handle....he hears lots of peoples fifth steps out there in his trailer.....

So it was a godwink of a different kind....here is his son Bob Jr. just down the street from me and when we first met my car had just been firebombed by the druggies down his direction and I said it is not the nicest neighborhood to him....but it was little nicer knowing he is there investing money to make money in our neighborhood....

And I gave him my friend in AA's name who does asbestos abatement as I mentioned he had done work on my house but his main business was asbestos abatement and he said I might need him.....

talk about small world right? hahaha oh and he talks to his dad every day of the week....said he would tell him he ran into me and wrote down my name and the homegroup he knows me from.....AA brings people together I say do you not agree?

Billwfriend One thing I noticed is that people help people in AA, many times without even knowing it. My second sponsor helped me out alot when I was going through my divorce but it was hard just seeing him at meetings and just talking for a few minutes and although I had his number, I really didn't want to bother him at home because he had a family to tend to. One day my car had to go in the garage for a big repair so I asked him if he knew anyone who could give me a ride, turns out, he lived just down the road from me so he picked me up, not just when I needed it but every sunday for a long time and the 45 minute trip down and back was enough time forme to absorb all his wisdon from 20 years of sobriety. It was extremely helpful to me at the time.
