My Christmas Miracle! (True Story)
Back in august, I came to the realization that winter was coming which meant there would be times when the power would be out. I have lost my power many times in the past and lost food in my refrigerator and had a frigid house, not to mention other problems connected with a temporary loss of power.
I decided to buy a stand-by generator this year. So I ordered it back in august, and it was delivered the week before Christmas. I am still waiting on the transfer switch which is delayed due to a supply chain problem. I was told it would be about a month. That would give me plenty of time to dig the trench from where the propane tanks will be, to the new generator.
It had been cold and there was 3-4 inches of frost in the ground so it was hard diggin. I dug a few feet the first day and a few feet the following day and my back was more sore then it ever was. I could barely move. It even hurt to sit down and I was taking prescription strength advil which didn’t help very much. I was hurting so much after the second day of digging, I was having thoughts of looking for narcotic pain killers. If I didn’t get this job done, then the propane company would do it for me and the price they wanted to charge was so high plus there were other aggravations as well which clearly told me, that they didn't really want to do it, at all!...so…..It motivated me to grab my shovel, and do it myself.. I tried one more time the following day but the frost was thicker and the digging was much harder. By then, my low back was aching so hard from muscle spasms that I was ready to give up. I had reached the end of my rope!
Totally frustrated, I threw my shovel down and said, “I’m done! Then I looked up at the sky and said “It’s your turn! I don’t know how you are going to do it, but it’s your problem now! I just can’t do it anymore!!”
I went back in the house and I tried to relax as much as I could for the rest of the day. The following morning arrived and I saw that there was a big snowstorm coming in the evening. It was now, imperative that I complete my other project and get my snowblower fixed so I had my coffee and went out to my shed to work on it. My back was still pretty sore and I wasn’t even thinking about the trench. I was more worried about getting snowed in.
I was glad the snow blower was outside. The bright sun made it easy to see what I was doing. It was a simple job, I was sure. I just needed to tighten the auger belt but the tightening screw hole was stripped so I had to drill it out and tap it for a larger screw. A little bit bigger job then I had planned on.
While I was working, I heard some noise on the lot to the north of me. It had been sold and the new owner was preparing the lot for the arrival of a new mobile home on the site. The groundwork was all done, new concrete slab was ready for the new home and the well had been drilled and the trench had been dug and partially filled in.
The well guys arrived to do the hookups for the new well, installing the pipe in the well casing and the well pump. From the sound of their voices, It seemed like they had a problem they were dealing with although I couldn’t tell what it was. I was more focused on getting my snowblower in good running condition, for the impending snow storm.
Eventually, the well guys took off for lunch so I took a break and warmed up with a cup of coffee. I thought the well guys had called it a day when they left but to my surprise, they came back, in the early afternoon.. As they drove onto the new gravel driveway, I clearly noticed they were towing, what looked like, the answer to my prayers! It was a backhoe! I looked up at the sky and I said, “Thankyou Jesus!” I waited about an hour or so and I walked across the field that divided the two properties, and as I got closer, to the well trench, the workers looked up at me with blank faces, wondering why I was there. I offered to pay them if they would help me out of my predicament. and finish digging my trench with their big machine.... to which they agreed, as soon as they finished what they were doing.
So I thanked them and went back to fixing my snowblower and I got that done. I went back in my house to grab another coffee when I heard the tracks of their backhoe, going across my lawn. I went out and showed them where to dig. There were some trees in the way so they had to dig from an angle, which was difficult. One guy grabbed my spade and was hand digging all the dirt that was loosened by the bucket. He was working really hard and both of them working together did a really good job! I was impressed with their fine workmanship!
When they were finished, I took my checkbook out of my pocket and asked them how much. I was prepared to pay them any amount they wanted and I would have been very happy doing so, for it saved the wear and tear on my back.
So the boss, who was the one doing the driving, shook his head, no, and he replied, “Merry Christmas”
I said “Thankyou, very much and my back thanks you even more!” and we all laughed. That was the best Christmas present I received this year....in more ways then one!
And that’s my Christmas Miracle!
I would love to hear from others who have had coiincidences in their lives which you believe could have been Divine intervention. I think that talking about those kind of uplifting memories can give others hope for their own future.
God Bless

Great story Bob and in the true spirit of the season. What fine gents they were to take care of you! Since leaving my corporate career a few years ago, I’ve come to discover that there is a whole world of working folks out there who take care of one other. I’ve met them on my travels and when camping across the country. Good hearted people who, given the opportunity, will eagerly help out when needed. You’ve helped out and encouraged so many people here Bob, I can’t think of a better recipient for this wonderful Christmas gift from your new friends.
One day I was sitting at my desk at work. I was in a ground level office with a big window facing a street. There are angled parking spaces with meters. It's a small town and I recogognize the regulars. There is an older gentleman who rides his red bicycle regularly and he's very wobbly on it. I always watch him to see if he's going to fall. This day he is going up the hill in front of my office. I look up just as he goes down and he's fallen behind a car with a couple who has just entered their car. They didn't see him pedal up or fall and I knew it. He was directly behind the car tangled up in his bike. I have never moved so fast in my life. I jumped over my desk and waved and held my hand up to stop them from backing over him. Then I helped him up and doctored his scuffed up elbows and sent him on his way. I saved his life. If I hadn't looked up when I did they would've backed over him. He has a tricycle now. I see him on it from time to time around town.
I was driving back to the office after visiting someone at home and saw a truck run over a little white dog. I was able to pull over and call animal control. I didn't wait for animal control officers and went back to work instead. My mom volunteered for the animal shelter at the time and let me know the dog received surgeries to repair her injuries and went to a loving foster home that specialized in helping dogs with leg injuries. She was eventually adopted. It is so sad to think that she could have died if I hadn't pulled over to help. There was someone on the street who seemed a little familiar with the dog but wasn't too interested in contacting the authorities. Praise God for protecting his creatures!
wow, what amazing things can happen when we pay attention to people around us. God bless all
Thank you Mocha for helping that little baby.
Beautiful story Bob, and a wonderful christmas gift to you.
I have two stories, one was around a month ago, it was before I got paid and was low on funds, I had to get my older cat her thyroid medication & was short of the $250 needed per month, I got to the vet, was about to explain if I could pay it off when the vet nurse handed me a months supply for free as someone's cat had passed and the lady didn't need the medication.
It showed me to trust in the universe, and everything is take care of.
The other story is when I was at the lake and someone had dumped a chicken and 4 ducks - I rang my friend, her, her husband managed to catch them, and my friend kept them with the rest of her menagerie. If we weren't there that day, they would have all been killed by foxes that night, we were at the right place at the right time !
I remember a new years eve now this was when I was drinking with my partner in crime and we were out on the roads home drunk and probably high as kites too....we got to a place where the road bends just as it goes over a railroad tracks....there was a car full of kids who had been out then ran their car straight and off the road onto the tracks and it was STUCK....we knew there was a payphone right there at this bus turn around....so I got on the payphone and knew my city police number like back of my hand so called them....told them a car is stuck on the train tracks and proceeded to give them the wrong intersection because Bill was blasted....but we waited and they came to the intersection I mentioned which was about four football fields down the tracks....the police were able to stop any and all trains from coming roaring down the tracks which would have killed the kids in the car....anyway we were drunk and no mood to miss seeing them remove the car from the tracks so we pulled off below the tracks and waited...they took forever to get the car off tracks...it was STUCK....they had a wheel down in the level of the rocks and at an angle that just meant they had to bring in a bigger wrecker to get that thing out of there....so a day of drinking had a huge happy ending when they were done with getting the car out...I think the kids ended up in jail....not too sure but one thing is sure I did not end up in jail and did not miss this great miracle....
Love reading the heart-warming experiences! Miracles do happen!
I don't have a story to share at the moment, when I do, I'll share it with you!
What a beautiful story,Bob. Always remember, God is in charge. Merry Christmas, Katrina.
Thank you for sharing your Christmas miracle, Bob. I'm very touched by all of the stories, especially @iamheretoo and @MochaShell. You are a reminder that there are still good humans in this world.
I was going home late from work on a Friday night (around 9:30 pm), and had stopped at a red light. When the light turned green for a protected left turn, I was about to start moving, but I had an overwhelming feeling that I shouldn't go. I had been sitting at the intersection for a few seconds when a car went speeding by through their red light at about 80 mph in a 35 mph zone. Had I gone when my light turned green, they would have slammed into me, and I probably wouldn't be alive now. I truly believe that angels were with me that night.
Glad you had help Bob, that's such a great present. I have a sweet one... About two weeks ago my son dropped off a huge sack of bird seed and a client had also given me one of sunflower. Since then my feeder has been twice as busy as last year and the extra seed to put on the ground gives the little ones more space at the feeder so everyone is being feed. Today it warmed up and it sounds like spring out there:)
I seem to be Blessed with what I call God's Gifts, Grace, Gratitude....I just call all GG's. The Universe is Full of wonders and gifts just waiting....just Ask" Ask, Seek, Know prayers will be answered.
My Wonderful Gift is a MEman as well. I went on a 4 day retreat to ME at the end of summer. While visiting the Clam Bake a wonderful restaurant which Is Huge I saw a man in overalls and a plaid shirt...I thought how cute is he....well of ALL the seats in this restaurant...probably about 200....He Sat Right Behind Me! I was told by a medium I 'would meet someone' and sure enough I did....he's turned out to be the Most Wonderful Kind and Generous Man I've met in over 20 years....Blessed by his friendship.
So happy for my second MEman that you had a Wonderful Christmas Gift!!! I had back surgery, don't know if this might help you if your back is out of alignment....do your best to hang from a door way, your weight will help to realign...also be sure to be hydrated, you need fluid between your disks...and walking helps to open up disks when spasming....hoping your pain is Gone!!! Happy New Year To You!!! :)
This little miracle was given to my son. He is a forklift manager and has to check inventory in and out of the warehouse. One day he got too close to the edge of the Warehouse opening. He fell out to the ground. Instead of falling hard and injuring his head and other body parts, he was gently laid down to the ground. I believe it was angels. I am so thankful and grateful that he wasn't hurt.
That's fabulous Bob.... What a wonderful gift.... xo
Kevin! Thankyou for the compliment! In some ways, you have helped make me a better person. Thankyou for being here!
Iamheretoo That's a wonderful story of compassion! Who put that thought in your head to look out the window at that precise moment in time? :)
MochaShell That's also a wonderfull story of compassion. Reminds me of the time I picked up a baby raccoon in the middle of the road on the outskirts of the town I live in. I took him to a wild animal sanctuary several hours away from me, and left him. About 6 months later I got a phone call from them saying he was ready to be released back into the forest and would I like to be there, but I turned down the offer due to other obligations but I thanked them for making him healthy enough to be released.
Thankyou for sharing!
AtPeaceMary Yes I always look around when I am outside, not to be nosy but just to see what's going on, just in case... I received a message from my neighbor who lives across the street from me. He just moved in last fall and had been working on a new garage so I wished him a Merry Christmas to which he said, "It would have been better but some drunk drove around my garage and destroyed my ladder!" So I wrote back and told him, "It was a big maroon 4X4 pickup with brown stripes" and he wrote back, "I love the neighborhood security! Thankyou! I thought it was drunk Stevie but he denys it. You just gave me the proof and he owes me a new ladder!"
I love being outside in the fresh air with nature all around me..God is all around us
Shiney, your first story sounds like the gift of Divine Providence, when God allows something bad to happen to bring about a greater good. Maybe it was the other dog's time to go across the rainbow bridge but the timing of it was miraculous and the donation of the expensive medication by the previous owner gave her solace in knowing it would help someone else...To me, that's not a coincidence. She helped you and helped herself in the process.
You second story .....God Bless you for saving their lives by finding them a new home! You are an angel!
Bilwfriend I can't think of a better thing to do in this world then to save the life of another. Drunk or not, you did the right thing. God Bless you!
Mid! You donated a bike to someone in need so you became someone else's miracle! That was a very kind and generous thing to do! You brightened up someone elses day. You are very kind.
Katrina39 Thankyou, and yes, I really believe that!
Ladybug Yes, there is a common thread in all of these where a thought pops in your mind with a strong urge to take notice and give it a high priority immediately. I waited an hour before I walked up and asked those guys, because I was too embarased but I had a very strong feeling that it would help them as well....Not sure why but I didn't question it at the time so off I went and it worked out for me. I really believe that is the voice for God who is giving us that thought in our minds. In fact, I read something about that somewhere but it's always our choice to do it or not. When I pray, I always ask to hear that voice more clearly and I think it helps. God Bless!
Finallyawaken I have two pairs of cardinals that come to my feeders. They are extremely rare where I live in the central part of the state and are mostly seen to the south or me. They seem to like getting the food off the ground instead of the feeders and that might be due to the competition with the bigger birds like the blue jays and morning doves so I always make sure they have plenty of seeds to munch on in the morning by dumping some on the ground. The hard part is keeping the squirrels away. Both grey and red steal my seeds plus a couple of chipmonks. I have to put my feeders in at night....have had visits from some larger animals and had broken feeders as a result.
Getting big bags of free bird seed is a miracle because that stuff gets expensive! I am happy for you!
miro853 I am happy for the wonderful gift you found in another human being. I really believe the universe puts us exactly where we need to be in order to get us what we need!
My neighbor has one of those inversion tables and I use it whenever I am visiting. It gives me temporary relief but so does massage, and heat. I am using heat as I write this and it helps a little. I also have some pain patches and I take advil gel caps 3 or 4 at a time when the pain gets real bad... I injured it years ago by doing repetitive lifting and it never got better. I have learned to live with it so I am blessed in other ways although I am always trying to heal myself using the power of mind which I used to heal my left knee healing my back is a different story and I may need to contact a Higher Authority.......
Happy New Year to you also!
mysooners I believe you because I had something similar happen to me during my college days. I became an avid mountain climber and had a fall from very high up and survived it with just a few scrapes and bruises. Spent one night in the local hospital for observation and went home. Next day was sunday and I had the tv on a channel listening to a Baptist minister describing how God creates miracles! He took a rubber ball out of his pocket and he bounced it up and down while saying "God does not change the laws of physics......If God were to crete a miracle on this ball, He would alter the law of gravity, temporily"........as he bounce the ball off to the right on an angle which perfectly described the way fell. I immediately knew that it was Divine intervention that saved my life! That was 40 years ago and I never forgot it! Give your son a hug for me and God Bless you and your family.
SunCloudJD Thankyou and Happy New Year!
