My Cat, My Cat, My My, My Poor Cat
So we got back from the vet with some bad news but not the worst possible news we could of gotten.
Timmi, my lovely 8 year old cat, has a severe liver infection that is causing his liver to start the chain of shutting down. It isn't so far progressed that there is no hope, but an infection of the liver has slim hope to start with.
Twice a day I have to give him 2 different medications. Antibiotics to try and battle the infection. It's hard, but not as hard as I would of thought. Maybe because he has no fight in him.
He doesn't eat. I blend up some water and some of the wet food the vet sent me home with and warm it in the microwave. Then I suck it up a medicine dropper and force feed it to him. Right now he gets about 20mls of the mixture every four hours. After I am done feeding him he goes to our bedroom and crawls under our bed ad doesn't move. His body is getting so little nutrition that he doesn't need to use the litter box. The vet told me that if by Monday he isn't eating they want to introduce a steroid. And if by Friday I still have to force him then his best bet will be euthanization.
She said if his appetite doesn't come back then the infection is winning and he will starve to death with a swollen liver and no energy. I'm terrified.
To some, it's like, 'so what, it's a cat.' But my pets are important to me. And Timmi has been with me through alot. I had him before I met Joey, before Marlow came along, before I had the ferrets or the dog. I had him through a rough previous relationship...he was actually all I came away with!
I want him to get better. I pray that he scratches me or bites me while I'm forcing the pills down his hatch. Some spunk will mean some energy and that will mean he is getting better.
My poor, boney, sickly, lethargic pal.
