my 11 year friend

My 11 year old friend Carey had surgery this past week. She has colon cancer and is the same age as my grandaughter. She was in a lot of pain so they opened her up and discovered that the cancer has her large and small colon entangled with tumors. Her parents were also told that her ovaries and uterus looked as if powered sugar had been sprinkled around. She now has a colostomy bag.  She has been moved from intensive care unit into a room and her mother has journaled that she is alert and has been talking to friends and family.  The doctors will not discuss any treatments until she is much stronger.
I share all of this to ask prayers for this family. This has been very upsetting for Steve. He wonders why he is left and children like Carey are suffering. They are at MD Anderson in Texas, and I have read that it is the number one cancer center in the US.  I know all of you have  tremendous burdens of your own, Please add Carey to your LONG prayer list. I try to remember all of you by name to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is my prayer that each of you are having ok days.   Love to all, Wanda

Prayers and thoughts are with Carey and her family. I can understand Steve\'s thinking. No-one should not have to go through the horror that cancer can be, let alone children and their families Thank you, too, dear Wanda, for the prayers you say for all your friends, You and Steve are in my prayers and thoughts.
Love and hugs,
Angel

My heart aches for Carey and her family. I know just how Steve is feeling. It breaks my heart when I hear of children suffering. Many prayers are being sent and hope a miracle will happen here.

I will add Carey to my list. Please keep us informed on Anderson as I have read some good thing about it.

Cheers,

Hi Wanda - of course I will add Carey to my prayers. Too much for a little girl. Never too late for miracles.
You\'re always in my prayers and thoughts too, as you know. Hope you\'re not feeling too anxious as Wednesday draws nearer. Trust...

Wanda, none of us are to involved not to pray for this child and her family. If thats one thing I have learned on this journey I can pray for people and ask God for his help for them. I am honored to do it. Hugs Jane

Dear Wanda, I just wrote in my journal about the pain and worry I was feeling for my husband\'s upcoming surgery. What you shared here reminds me of how blessed I am. Not to discount anything we all feel for our loved ones, but in reality, at least I got so wound up in my situation, I forgot to look at the blessings I have. I will pray for this child as hard as I will pray for my own husband.

Love, Linda
