moving phase I
Got the keys to the new place today. It's both a little smaller and a little more $$ than here, but I simply cannot stay here. Too many painful memories.
Didn't move a lot of stuff in today, but Leslie's ashes were a definite on this trip. Don't want to take any chance on them getting lost/whatever. I did buy an urn (which I also moved today) but am waiting until after I move and am somewhat settled to handle that. Leslie is in a box in my coat closet. Not a good thought.
I did make one decision today and signed Sawyer (and me) up for a training course. It doesn't start until late October, but it was highly recommended. Need to work to keep Sawyer. It will probably be good for me, too. It starts with private sessions but will become group training later on. Something for us to work on together. Need to keep Leslie's goofy dog.
Really tired tonight. Seeing the bereavement counselor tomorrow morning. Once I'm living in the new place I'll look into their support group. Just keep swimming........

I'm glad to hear you and Sawyer are all signed up for training classes. I think that will be very helpful for both of you!
I wish you peace and joy in your new home.
Hugs,
Teri
Hi Sue. one thing that helped me was to remember that Ed was not in that urn. His spirit was soaring free in the heavens. I had to try hard to reframe those disturbing thoughts.
I have gone to dog training classes with my dogs and I loved it. I hope you & Sawyer have fun & I'm sure Leslie is pleased her dog is with her mom! ♡
May your new home be a safe haven and a place of comfort for you.
Love to you and dearest Leslie, Linda
We did dog training classes with our first lab pup and it made all the difference in the world as we were the ones who needed the training more than our dog did. lol! Hoping it's a bonding time for Sawyer and for you as it feels like a good plan. He's been through a lot as have you and this will keep you both focused and grounded as you work together. I remember all the practicing we did between our lessons and it was so worth it.
Moving takes a lot of energy and courage so allow lots of wiggle room and grace for all the feelings that will be flooding in. I know that helped me when we made a major move.
Gentle care,
XO Joanie
